And Stavelot, Trois Ponts, Werboment, Lignueville - and Malmedy in Belgium.
My old man crossed the ocean, and parachuted into Germany to kill the bastards. I have no love for the ideology. He didn’t either; his only comment to me about the war, when I was a young teen, was that his guys never took SS prisoner, unless they were specifically ordered to. He hated them.
By the way... the SS was Hitler’s “National Security Force, just as well-funded and equipped as the military”... Wow... where did we hear that before, I wonder...

Crankshaw wrote it in 1956; he was British Intelligence, and he’d been around some of the major players. I’d trust HIS views on them anyday of the week.
