Regarding your editorial "Censors on Campus" (Jan. 18): Writing from the epicenter of progressive thought, San Francisco, I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its "one percent," namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the "rich."

These agencies have enormous power to destroy wealth and ( worse) and the means to fabricate lies and destroy reputations.
Who needs concentration camps and ovens to control the masses with that kind of power to destroy?

You are tragically misguided if you don’t see (or deny the reality of) the parallels between our national socialist democrat party and the Nazi Party of prewar Germany. One only has to consider the very revealing remarks of Gov Cuomo in a recent interview-”Cuomo blasted “extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay” and said they “have no place” in New York. This is where he fails right at the beginning.
The German 1% back then were the Krupps, Quandts et al., mainly not Jews; though many Jews were what we'd call upper middle class today - doctors, lawyers, university professors, bankers...part of the educated backbone of the country.

The difference is culture. The writer is pointing out the thematic similarities between propaganda against the Jews and propaganda against the so-called 1 percent. (I’d also point out that there’s many thematic similarities between statements made by anti-Semites and statements made by those accusing whites having “privilege.”)
Sure, the rich aren’t going to go placidly into the ovens like the Jews, but we’re not Europeans. I could easily see mobs being whipped up into a frenzy, however, and overwhelming the rich in their mansions and gated communities in a frenzy of looting, murder, rape, and mayhem. That would be far more in the American tradition.
It’s also a recurring theme among the left to create an “enemy within” on which to focus hate. The Soviets had the kulaks; the Chinese had the “running dogs” of capitalism; the national socialists had the Jews. It is not surprising for the American left to create such a group, and since we’re Americans, they’re careful to make sure it isn’t racially or ethnically insensitive, so it’s just “the 1 percent.”
You’re right, though. It’s not extermination. Not yet.

I have problems with where the country is headed, but as a child of two Holocaust survivors, I find it incredible that any right-thinking human being could compare the dilemma of the rich in America with being exterminated.

Personally, I think this guy nails it. The natural progression of Liberalism / the Progressive Movement is about persecuting the “rich” and I would add they’re using similar language and symbolism to that which the Hitler regime used right up to the point six million Jews were sent to the gas chambers.
I forgot to mention the many Jewish shopkeepers (from tailor to book merchant) whose shops were, of course, the target of Kristallnacht. Again, not the 1% Krupps et al (who did very well under the Nazis).
The purges under Stalin and Mao killed far more people each than that scum Hitler. The death processes of ovens, gas chambers and other forms of assassination not withstanding.
It is understandable if your situation makes you hate the hitler mentality more than the murderous rage of say the communists. I would feel the same had it affected my background.
The scum that are pulling the strings are in no physical danger unless you count drowning in bailout and Fed money.

It's the precursor to treat those that are successful as the problem that is at issue.
If you have any sense of history and how totalitarian regimes target a group in order to advance their cause, you may actually get it.
It is all about creating a reason why people are suffering. In American, their reason is the rich.
In Germany, it was the Jews, in the Arab world today, it is the west and the Jews.
They are attempting to fuel the fire of their discontent by blaming someone else for their troubles.
When you combine this discontent with a bleeding heart, you get a fanatic that will feel justified as they advance the killing of people they feel are a threat.

And this time WE’RE the Kulaks. Suppose some of us decline the invitation to the FEMA camp. After all, we’ve prepared by storing food, water and medical supplies. But then - ust to make sure we’re well - a group of men come to our door to verify our well-being. Does anyone remember what happened to the Kulaks who had seed grain stored for the future? In most cases they were executed and the grain was confiscated. Farmers were shot for gleaning from their own fields and when they seent their children out, they too were killed.
Can’t happen here? Has someone built a fence to keep greed and avarice away from our shores? What talisman will keep my grandchildren safe when your imaginary fence fails? The only thing that can save them is possession and willingness to use firearms in defense of their supplies.
Yes, this time we are the Kulaks for like them, we own property. We’re also the Jews because we work for what we want rather than steal it from our neighbors.
I feel a rant coming on so I guess I’d better stop while I still make some semblance of sense.
Denying those issues will create more discord later, which would/will favor the rise the new left.
