No doubt in my mind.

The article oddly leaves out the fact that the pair of aerostats is the JLENS radar system (leaving that out means you can’t look it up). About a year ago it moved from a test site in Nevada. Testing will continue on the coast.
Cameras? Yeah a camera at 10,000 feet that will watch people 100 miles away. Oh the gross invasion of privacy.
As for flying into them, APRF is already a restricted zone, it has a couple of artillery ranges that would not be friendly to a Cessna.

Hopefully they figure something better than blimps for a long-term solution to this problem.

No massive internal security apparatus in the history of the world has ever been used specifically against foreign threats. Their main target is always domestic political suppression.

We have NORAD for this purpose. This isn’t going to be anything but slow moving, high resolution, probably audio capable drones to be used against our privacy probably in areas where there isn’t enough security cameras to monitor everything else.

I live a couple miles from this base. Close enough to hear and feel test explosions. I wonder how bad all the Baltimore libs are going to complain about their view with a blimp in the way.

I don’t buy it. We are worried about Iranian cruise missiles? Now??
So the Russians and Chinese having low flying nuclear armed cruise missiles throughout the Cold War didn’t appear as a threat?
This is more likely about domestic surveillance as in that ARGUS youtube video.
