A few years ago a teacher tried to tell me that there was no reason a good teacher shouldn’t make as much as a pro baseball player.

I told her that it was pretty unlikely but if she really wanted to get paid what she was worth she should teach in a private school or contract as a tutor to the rich and famous. Then I really yanked her chain by suggesting that maybe there was a reason she stayed in a public school.

…if she can attract hundreds of thousands of people into a park for 4 hours at $50 a head week after week then sure, why not pay her the same as a pro ball player!

This will happen.....the day that there's as many teachers as there are people in the world who can consistently hit a Major League curve.

I hear that all the time. People don't seem to "get" that teachers' salaries and baseball players' salaries come from completely different sources. It's just a self-righteous, feel-good statement that people like to say.
