Put this in your pipe and smoke it Colorado, because you arent getting married without first attending state-mandated, premarital education classes at least if the same voters who legalized weed will now allow in such a big-government proposal.
According to the proposed initiative, which will require 86,105 signatures to place the issue on the November ballot, the Denver Post reported, first-time couples wanting to wed would be required to attend 10-hours of marriage education, second-time couples 20-hours, and if its your third trip down the proverbial aisle . . .

If you give government the power to regulate (read license
) marriage than you cede to it the power to set conditions.
This is why people who are pushing for defining marriage legally are playing right into the hands of those who would legalize "homosexual marriage" — they are acknowledging the power of the government to regulate/define marriage by laws.
I heard that a percentage of people attending the class called off the wedding after taking it and hearing what their finance` had to say when presented with certain scenarios.
Homosexual partners will, of course, be exempt from these classes.
my wife and I facilitate pre-marital meetings with some couples getting married in our church. I am always amazed at some of the notions and teachings some of these young couples have. Although I am older and a little wiser now, I don't remember being as misinformed as some of these young couples. We got married at 19 me, 16 her, and this year we'll celebrate our 40th.
I would have refused to go, and if they refused to issue a marriage license taken it to court. The gov’t should never have been allowed to get into the marriage business, other than settling property disputes upon divorce or death.
That would have made for some good videos.
yeah, well....the future Mrs. Buckeye preferred not to wait five or six years while I kicked everything up to the US Supreme Court.
“Same lessons for man-woman as man-man and woman-women?”
Colorado doesn’t have sodomite play-pretend marriage—yet.
“why is there a war on marriage?”
Because there is relatively little faith among the people to restrain Satan.
What are some of their notions? Do they think marriage is all roses all the time and not hard work to keep the commitment going?
If it doesn't work out? Why shouldn't we live with my parents? etc.
If we give the government the power to tell us who CAN get married, it only stands to reason we’re giving them the power to tell how HOW that process will take place. Camel’s nose, little bit pregnant, pick your metaphor.
Exactly
