Thanks so much for posting this. I wanted to but haven’t learned how to post articles on FR. I am like you, at 57(58 next month) they’re hounding me to get routine colonoscopies, and Ive been resisting.
And Ive also been wondering why are kids getting colonoscopies?
Don't resist. Just do it. The hardest part, is drinking that stuff. They will knock you out, and you won't know a thing. It's easy.
They quit harassing me after I said one time I would immediately dispatch myself if they ever gave me a cancer diagnosis. They haven't even mentioned colonoscopies and prostate exams since.
Do yourself a favor, and quit resisting. I'll turn 60 in a few months, and had my first colonoscopy last week. As many will say, the toughest part was the prep, i.e. drinking a gallon of less than tasty liquid. I stopped after 3 1/2 litres.
They found a few polyps, all benign. I'll make a return trip in 3 years. Entered the clinic at 8:30, 45 minutes for prep and paperwork, under anesthesia for 45 minutes...one of the best naps I ever had, that was some good stuff! lol
