Ahh, but as a Freeper, you are a “hostage” to outmoded ideas and in need of re-education.
And so they’ll ensure you get it.
And everyone else at your residence.
During a midnight raid.
And then you’ll be the government’s hostage.

When SWAT teams first came out, Americans were assured that they would ONLY be employed for rare situations, such as a criminal holding someone hostage.
Look at history. How did that really play out?
I saw nothing in the article to indicate they were training for hostage situations...do you have some other information about this “exercise” or are you just building strawmen?
When’s the last time the FBI Hostage Rescue Team actually rescued a hostage?

And if you are a citizen who wants to live in a free country, this is scary stuff. My odds of being a hostage are nill. My odds of interacting with a soldier/cop is high. I’m more concerned about how the soldier/cop handles his interactions with me, than I am with the negligible possibility of being a hostage.
But people always reach for extreme examples to justify anything. With that thinking, holy crap, they need RPG, SAWs, and everything else, just in case. Of course since they won’t have a legitimate target to use the training and equipment on, they’ll lower the bar so they can play with the battle rattle.
