Relatives of a woman shot to death on Tuesday while walking to pick up her daughter from a west Houston school suspect she may have been a mistaken target.
The woman, identified by relatives as Yoli Perez, was shot about 3 p.m. in the 3400 block of Rockyridge near Pagewood. She lived in a nearby apartment complex.

My read: drugs. It’s all about drugs. There is just TOO much money in them...and the USA folks are the biggest customers. The drug business won’t abate until the markets dry up. I don’t see THAT happening very soon. Do you? (Rhetorical.)
If she was bad, she would not have filed a police report.
.........don’t think so, Hispanic men tend to get very jealous very quick. I suspect that here’s an attractive woman that some guy just said “if I can’t have her nobody else is”.
So you’re going with “Our diversity is our strength” angle.
and she was shot at a couple of months ago... this is not mistaken identity...
Perhaps if she was returned to her country of origin at the time of the first incident, she would be alive today. So much for the humanity of giving sanctuary.
True enough.
1. Not all Hispanic men tend to get very jealous very quick. My father was one, as were his four brothers. I have a ton of Mexican cousins and they aren't all that way. One cousin was a priest even. You paint a pretty wide swath of with your stereotyping. Hispanic men grow up at 14 or 40...and that is due to their upbringing. MOST children are brought up by MAMA for the first few years, where children LEARN their behavior and attitudes.
2. Any man, Hispanic or not, who had that attitude you wrote about, is a jerk and an a-hole. Prison is FULL of men of many races and religions who broke the law. Jealousy doesn't happen by race, creed or national origin. It USUALLY starts with a mama who spoils her son, with PAPA allowing it, or ignoring it. And a fatherless boy or girl has the WORST problems.
3. From what I read prisons are FULL of fatherless men. THAT is half the mother's fault, I believe. Fatherless children are SO OFTEN doomed to fail. Dads are the hammer; always have been, especially for 12+ children. They teach sons to deal with adult male authority. It's especially important for black dads to teach their sons how to deal with adult male WHITE authority. That's so often the clue as to why so many black men end up in prison.
Those numbers aren't quite as bad for Hispanic men...depending how many boys were fatherless.
1. Education
2. Job
3. Marriage
4. Children
That OUGHT to be the order of events, shouldn't it? If that order isn't followed it's a predictor for trouble for ALL children, despite jealousy.
I appreciate your thoughts. Yes, I should have not implied “all” Hispanic men. But, let me put it this way, in my opinion, Hispanic men, generally speaking, are more protective and possessive of their women.
On the importance of fathers I agree with you totally!!
Lol, generally speaking, the word “diversity” as used by liberals, is not my favorite word.
So, I’m pretty sure the answer to your question is No.
Jealous boyfriend fired warning shot a couple months ago. Didn’t scare her. She kept on keeping on. He killed her.
Now, before any freepers fire up their keyboard, I admit I am just speculating!!!!
Hope somebody keeps track of this story and updates us down the road.
Dang, here I always thought it was those hot blooded EYE-talians, Spaniards, French and other Latin male types who were so possessive and protective.
Of course, to go along with the stereotype those Latin women gave as good as they got.
Does that mean that the northern men, Scandihoovians and such, are NOT more protective and possessive of their women? That's a major league stereotype too. I think I would find THAT stereotype hard to swallow too.
My husband was a mixture of English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh. But, he had a LOOK about him and if any male LOOKED as if he were going to give me ANY trouble...that LOOK of his would make said male do an IMMEDIATE about face. No Latin in him at all. He had a FEROCIOUS look when guys messed with me. :o) I felt 100% protected all the time, even when I was alone.
........obviously you have some pretty strong feelings about this subject. Perhaps you can try to keep up with the story and let us all know what happens. It would truly be interesting to find out the man’s motives.
Again, thanks for your responses.
They span the planet, in every culture, country and nationality. No country is without them, not even Japan. Japan has its own USELESS people, poor, ragged, begging, stealing, whatever.
Christ did say that the poor we will always have with us--talking about how HE would not be with the Apostles long.
Of course He knew that but it's still depressing to see it. I once thought that with enough money and education the world could be changed. NOPE.
As Lincoln said (paraphrased): you can change human behavior to some extent but you can't change human nature.
