Target Corp. said Tuesday that it will stop offering health insurance to its part-time employees because new online health exchanges offer workers an opportunity to buy coverage.
The Minneapolis-based retailer will give each worker $500 to help buy health insurance, and has arranged for one-on-one consultations with benefits manager Towers Watson to help with the transition.
The retailer announced the decision through its online site, A Bullseye View: Behind the Scenes at Target, in a Q&A with Jodee Kozlak, Targets executive vice president of human resources.
In the article, Kozlak acknowledged the disruption to workers. But she said the exchanges might offer options that some workers will prefer, and noted that those who qualify for subsidies and tax credits could find insurance that is less expensive than their current plan offered by Target.

Well I did not know this forum required the use of proper English. I would guess using the acronym BTW is not proper English, but just like the acronym FU, we all know what it means. ;)

oh, which Democrat MN Senator turned Democrat MN Governor is a “Target” family heir? Would that be Sen/Gov Mark Dayton (D-MN)?
“if you like your opportunity you can keep it.”
LOL! The wording from target is great, putting such a positive spin on such a horrible event (the loss of insurance). As the Axis retreated from the Soviet Union, they would refer to it as “strategic shortening of lines”...
That aspect of “insurance” has been devolving for years!
Companies WILL ditch even offering their employees the option of spouse/family coverage.
Government employees will still be offered the family option.
I'm not certain when or even if, it ever kicks in, that government employees will have to live under the same government mandated requirements/plans that NGEs(non-government employees) are going to be forced to deal with...after the next elections.
