HENRICO COUNTY, Va (WTVR) A Henrico man fired his shotgun into the air Friday, defending himself from would-be carjackers, according to police.
Police say the man met the two suspects when he went to the Staples Mill Townhomes complex along the 4100 block of Townhouse Road to look at a car he was interested in buying.
Callan Hisle is a resident in the area, and he is surprised by the violence occurring in what is normally a quiet area.
Thats outrageous to be happening in Henrico, Hisle said. This is a pretty

Surprise!
I wouldn’t have given them a warning shot.
Agree. After all, they took his wallet and car keys. And he didn't get them back, a lot of good shooting in the air did him. Oh, plus they shot their gun at him. Last thing I would think of is shooting in the air!
IMO, warning shots should be fatal...
Joe Biden would be proud.
Shotguns hold what...four maybe five rounds on average. So now you have wasted 20 to 25% of your ammo. Not too smart.
Nor would I. We were always taught, that the requirements for a warning shot, were exactly the same, as a shot right at the perp. Therefore, no warning shots.
I would never go meet a stranger about buying a car. The criminals KNOW you have cash in your pocket.
Exactly right IMO. If a “warning shot” has to, by necessity, be followed with a killing or injuring shot it creates a crack that a prosecutor might stick a crowbar in to leverage open a “you weren’t really in fear for your life” line of attack. If not a prosecutor then a lawyer with a civil suit.
Bad move. The victim is lucky he isn’t dead. His warning shot gave the crooks an opportunity to shoot at him - luckily they were bad shots.
Things like this shouldn’t be happening in the People’s Paradise of Virginia. After all, according to their ads “Virginia is for Lovers” (and Democrats).
Now they his wallet and address.
I agree.
