The president of Eastside Catholic School has resigned amid the fallout from her decision to dismiss the schools vice principal for marrying his gay partner.
In December, Sister Mary Tracy terminated Vice Principal Mark Zmuda, who also served as the swim coach, saying his marriage to a man violated teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, which hed agreed to uphold when he began working at the school.

After all, aren't Catholic faith, morals, and practices determined by democratic vote of the student body?
Disgusting.
(Most) "Catholic" schools: a bad joke.
“Her dismissal of Zmuda triggered a protest by Eastside students, which spread to another local Catholic school, led to rallies in front of the Seattle Archdioceses offices”
Where is the Diocese? Teach these students.
Coward!
If the students wanted to worship satan would you give in on that as well?
Ping
she shouldn’t have quit.
what’s the point of being christian if you don’t stick it out when it gets personally difficult? would have been a major teaching moment(s).
Looks like Mark and the swim coach cannot read... hit the road dudes...
She did the right thing. No reason to resign.
They failed to catechize their students in a faithful, loving, and reasonable way.
A Catholic school in Seattle is allowing a lesbian drama coach to keep her part-time job after taking international flak for successfully demanding the resignation of its vice principal after he violated his hiring contract by entering into marriage with another man.
The move puts officials at Eastside Catholic Schools (ECS) at odds with the Archdiocese of Seattle, which oversaw the removal of gay vice-principal Mark Zmuda in December.
Zmuda, an administrator and swim coach, was popular among students. His December 20 resignation provoked a mass demonstration among students who demanded he be reinstated, as LifeSiteNews.com reported earlier this week.
The day after Zmuda submitted his resignation, drama coach Stephanie Merrow publicly announced she was lesbian and engaged to marry her partner. Merrow said she made her lesbian engagement public to support the student protests.
Looks like these kids need a big dose of Sunday School.
I just read your post. Where are the parents?
So go the churches. . .so go the families . . .so go schools. . so goes the the nation and we are heading in the wrong direction at record speed!!!!!!!
Strangely, when they interviewed the principal, they did the segment in...an Episcopalian church.
Even more strange, the principal refused to condemn the Catholic church and its teachings.
And the anchor kept prodding him to do so.
It ALMOST made me respect the guy.
But happy ending is, that the guy will be most welcome in the Episcopalian church.
Episcopalians frown highly on... people not "liking" gay marriage.
THAT is the unpardonable sin.
Where the hell is Archbishop Sartain on this?
Episcopalians frown highly on... people not “liking” gay marriage.
THAT is the unpardonable sin.
_________
Matthew 12:31 Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.
Paul wrote, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14).
So, in a Catholic school, the one who follows Catholic doctrine gets the boot, while the one who defies Catholic doctrine stays. Makes perfect sense /s
Seattle is full of these people.
"In a videotaped interview, Zmuda said Tracy offered him the option of divorcing his partner of five months and having a commitment ceremony instead. Tracy later said she had been looking for ways to keep him."
Better she quit. She was already waivering.
