FYI..Politico today has a
story about the same question....their list of possibles are Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, Ted Cruz,John Cornyn, Eric Cantor, Nikki Haley, Mia Love, Susana Martinez, Jeb Bush, and yes, of course, Chris Christie..
Hey, it's Politico, after all. I mean, what did you expect? At least Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Charlie Crist or either of the Koch Bros aren't on the list..
Cruz would be awesome...but that ain't gonna happen. Mitch would love to do it himself..I wonder if he'll try and exert pressure to get himself picked.
On the normally very accurate predictor that Politico is wrong nearly always..it won't be any of the above.
Here's my vote, FWIW: IMHO he'd be perfect..he's conservative, photogenic, and a great speaker..
Mike Lee

Ted Cruz would be my choise. Scott Walker would be good, but we want to keep him here, so let’s not give him too much national exposure, okay?

It will be Paul Ryan - almost won, but really came in second. GOP thinks he has a future, and he is so so amenable to work things out like the budget, amnesty and all the other things Obama wants to cram down our throats.
I expect the GOP response to be a weak-willed, loyal opposition rebuttal. Of course, respectfully as if the POSTUS were actually something or someone to be respected.

Cantor?! Christie?! Bush?! Is this a joke? Ted Cruz. That’s it. Mike Lee would be great but nobody knows him.

It matters not whom we prefer. The GOPe will decide.
My suggestion to them would be Chuck Schumer.
He probably is closer to them politically than that icky Ted Cruz.

Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul.
They’re the ones who seem to get the widest focus yet hit as many solid points as possible.
