“Making it illegal in no way diminishes its availability or its use”
You had to turn your brain off to come up with that statement.
I seriously doubt there are that many people that AREN’T smoking it now because it’s illegal. On the other hand, those that ARE smoking it already couldn’t care less.
There’s no reason for keeping it(and some other drugs) illegal except for some people liking to use the police/legislative powers of the government to FORCE their will upon others....AND those who benefit from the ‘police industrial complex’ that seems to have grown around drug prohibition.
Cocaine, heroin etc. are illegal to make, possess, sell, transport and use in about 99.5% of the world. Yet virtually ANY middle school kid will tell you he can get ANY drug he chooses with little to no difficulty.
So....tell me again how making drugs, ANY drugs including MJ illegal has ANY effect on it’s use or availability.
Prohibition did not prevent drinking.
Vice squads and bunko squads have no effect on gambling.
Prostitution is illegal in all but 15 county’s in America yet it’s practice is rampant. So yes, making drugs in general and marijuana specifically illegal is pointless.
It does not prevent their use, it merely empowers evil people to destroy freedoms.
Would you use it if it were legal? How about crack or heroin? Me neither. It’s not the law that keeps people from using hazardous substances. I don’t use tobacco or alcohol and they’re legal. I could huff nitrous oxide from whipped cream if I wanted to but I don’t. You wouldn’t either. The law only gives price incentive.
Instead of "Making it illegal in no way diminishes its availability or its use.
It would have been even more true by saying:"Making it illegal has increased its popularity, availability and its use, while creating a police state to "fight" it.
Prohibition taught US a few things about human nature, freedom and liberty, and about money and control, which is why we're doing it again with a multi-use plant you, like the FFs did, can grow in your garden with your tomatoes and beans.
Better to make it illegal and have a police state fighting the "drug war", a vast underground on both sides of our border to supply and battle for territory, along with generations who become accustom to breaking the illogical laws of those who rule over them.
And, it's better to let the Chinese develop and patent their hundreds, maybe even thousands, of years of pot plant pharma, than let a free people make their own life choices and live with and learn from the consequences.
