Think it's hard to enroll in ObamaCare? Try getting out of it.
Missouri resident Lesli Hill learned the hard way that terminating an Affordable Care Act plan can be far more difficult than navigating the website to buy one. She spent six weeks being bounced from operator to operator, calling the help line, using the online chat, blasting out emails to anyone who would listen, before ultimately driving to Kansas City last week to enlist her insurance company's help. Only then was she able to break through the bureaucratic logjam, and cancel her policy.
"It's consumed my whole life," she told FoxNews.com, albeit with a hint of relief in her voice as she described the Kafkaesque experience behind her.
"I felt like I'd slipped into a parallel universe. ... It's just as hard to go off as it is to get on."
Hill's experience stands as a cautionary tale to anyone who, for whatever reason, is trying to bow out of insurance they purchased on the exchanges. Hill's troubles started last fall, after the high-risk pool coverage she had was discontinued due to the health law. For lack of options, she went on the exchange and bought a policy with a $950-a-month premium.
She wasn't thrilled about it, but at least she was covered.
However, shortly afterward Hill, 62, learned she could once again purchase an individual plan -- with better benefits -- outside the exchange. She checked with Blue Cross Blue Shield in early December and was told she'd have to cancel her ObamaCare plan first.

More like a Roach Motel.
By design.
“Si, se peude!” Ole’!
How does she know that she signed up and then how does she know she’s no longer signed up ? The Obama Admin no clue if anyone has sighed up
How about just not paying the premiums?
Creating new conservatives, one story at a time.
One thing in the article that never seems to be mentioned by the MSM is that people CAN get insurance directly from insurance companies. And get better benefits. The MSM makes it sound like everyone can ONLY get insurance through Obamacare.
She could close her bank account ... but they would follow her SSN to the new bank and new account. Can’t open any accounts that are legal without SSN. There is no escaping BIG BROTHER.
Sounds to me like she has all the tell tale sounds of a dumbass that voted for this! Live with it. Enjoy it. Oh, and while you’re at it...take a history and econ 101 course.
If that is Lesli’s photo, she looks good for 62. This is someone used to managing her life in a logical way.
automatic premium withdrawal from bank accounts
She found out she was signed up when they took her first premium payment out of her checking account.
Now to see if they do it again. If they do, she’ll know she’s still signed up.
Sorry but your information is being sold like those from Target to anyone and everyone..
Watch your bank account and do not be surprised that someone buys a car in your name.
You go to the site and fill everything out, they just take your premiums from your bank account.
Bottom line, do...not...go...near...healthcare.gov.
We can only hope. :-)
Just like with AOL, which had a 1000 line call center where 990 lines were dedicated to customer tech support and problem resolution and the remaining 10 were to handle disconnecting of service.
I wonder if these Obamacare lines use the old trick of having out of state local numbers to force the customers to make long distance calls as well?
Tractor beam.
She’s learning the lesson the hard way.
She did have enough sense to check around and find out she can get insurance directly from an insurance company. I’ll give credit where it’s due.
I wonder, if she did vote “D” before, if she’ll move Right after this.
Can’t argue with that. I know folks several years younger who look older than she does.
