With calls for a day of service to the poor and a renewed commitment to nonviolence, Americans on Monday commemorated Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the federal holiday that honors the slain civil rights leader.
President Obama and his wife, Michelle, will lead a day of service, according to the White House, and they will be joined by hundreds of thousand of volunteers feeding the hungry in cities, including New York. Parades in honor of King will be held in many places, including Los Angeles....
The King Center, established in Atlanta, Ga., to honor the Nobel Prize winners memory and politics, called for a day of no shots fired, Bernice A. King, CEO of the center, said.

By the way, pretty low bar to set for a holiday, isn't it Bernice? "No shots fired"?
Wow! They need to put out a plea for a day with “no shots fired”?
Those 3 words sum up the state of the black community in 2014.
It's that "soft bigotry" thing again.
No individual holidays for Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson or a number of great patriots - just king marty. No others allowed.
Is this like admitting that blacks are more responsible for “shots fired”???
Check out how the “journalist” prostitutes the work of King:
“His campaigns of civil disobedience, marches, extending voter rights and fighting legal barriers in the courts became the tactics that marked many other movements in the United States, including those for Latino rights and those fighting for lesbian, gay and transgender issues.”
MLK Jr., for all his foibles, was a Christian who did not celebrate sodomy.
Well, the homosexuals and their fans are doing everything possible to claim gay “marriage” is the next great civil rights battle. I could just as easily claim that incest, polygamy, or polyandry are perfectly normal. All of them could involve consenting adults doing things in the privacy of their own bedrooms. Once these things are declared equal and normal to male/female heterosexual marriage, then the practitioners would have just as much of a claim on civil rights as the gay “marriage” crowd.
But of course we know this is all nonsense, because homosexuality is not on par with heterosexual relationships for obvious reasons. A homosexual couple cannot even consummate their “marriage.” All they can do, whether they love each other or not, is engage in mutual masturbation.
It’s absurd to claim gay “marriage” is equal to black civil rights. Blacks were not treated equally under the law, but no law prevents homosexuals from marrying someone of the opposite sex. Marriage law isn’t about love, otherwise all of the things I mentioned above would be legal. I don’t have the right to marry multiple women or marry my sister whether I love them or not. Homosexuals have the exact same rights as I.
As a co-worker of mine suggested once, “Let’s shoot 4 more and take the whole week off.”
