Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is taking aim at movie producer Harvey Weinstein, calling the studio head a hypocrite for slamming the NRA, but using violence in his own films.
Citing Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 film “Kill Bill” — which Weinstein produced — the Texas senator said the sword fight at the end of the movie is “one of the most epically violent scenes.”
“But you don’t see people wanting to ban knives,” Cruz said Thursday on Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”
Cruz’s comments follow news that Weinstein — who co-heads The Weinstein Company production house with his brother — wants to target the NRA in a new film.

“I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this issue head on, and they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them,” Weinstein told Howard Stern on the latter’s radio show Wednesday, according to audio from Mediaite.
Cruz slammed Weinstein for living in “a fancy neighborhood with all sorts of police protection.”
“He says he doesn’t own a gun, but I bet you there’s a good odd that he has armed security around him,” Cruz said.
Cruz called Weinstein’s movies “left-wing propaganda,” and said “Hollywood liberal elites, they have their view of things.”
“We have a right to protect ourselves. It’s protected in the Constitution. Even if liberal Hollywood types want to take it away, it isn’t going anywhere,” Cruz said.
Cruz added that he sees the similarities between Washington and the West Coast.
“It’s the same pattern we see in Washington. It’s a double standard. It’s one rule for thee and one rule for me. So liberals love to live by special rules,” he said.
it will be a gabby giffords BS story. Her “husband” has been trying to glom her tradgedy into a political carrer.
You could say the same about lots of Tarantino movies, including Django which was a spoof/homage to the Serigo Lenoe spagetti westerns, but I thought the Kill Bill series were his worst spoofs. I agree it's purely subjective and you're just as "right" in liking them as I am in not liking them. I haven't really liked one of his flicks since Jackie Brown.
in any case, i thank God for Ted Cruz--his character... his intellect... his willing to be the lone voice in DC... God bless him and keep him... and make His face to shine upon him...
A reflection of their director/producer.
I liked Pulp Fiction too. Great dialogue.
Please note that although I didn’t really like them that much I thought the production values and directing on both Kill Bill movies and Django were excellent.
People are cynical. Nothing but criticism to the point of loserness. What if conservatives decide they’re not going to be dictated to by liberals?
It’s not like libs are going to hand over authority, it will have to be taken.
If anyone has a better man, candidate than Cruz, let’s see him.
Look at it this way,
The only ones that will make any money
from this movie are the gun dealers.
Exactly. Any one of those movies, except perhaps Pulp Fiction because that also was supposed to be ridiculous, would have been a better example for the purpose.
So What?
Beautiful.
My favorite was the balcony scene where at one point you could, purposely, see the wire to her flying harness.
Missed that. Will have to check it out next time. KB and KB2 are not to be taken any more seriously than a comic book, but some of the camera work (like the long single takes in the night club) are very well done.
“I predict that Weinsteins anti-NRA film will be a total bust.”
The left wing media will hype the hell out of it the same way they did with Michael Moron.
They’ll create the false narrative the same way whether it’s a bust or not. It’ll drive the agenda for a few months.
“Reservoir Dogs” is terrific. It does have a theme...it’s the old ‘honor among thieves’ story. It’s also about the genre...how these old tropes work in a 1990s context. It’s also brilliantly acted and staged...the precise wide screen frame accentuates how the characters are caged animals barking at each other. It’s not all that violent either...the infamous ear slicing scene is off screen.
What a truly great and fearless man Ted Cruz is. A giant of a man. A true statesman.
...until he makes a statement this forum doesn’t agree with...remember Karl Rove back during the Bush election days...?
Family name

I saw this quote on another site:
“1) Throughout the years, hollywood has taught gun violence.
2) Throughout the years, the NRA has taught gun safety.
any questions?”
You mean the song from the old Vonage commercials, don't you?
Same song. The female Japanese band "The 5,6,7,8's" wrote the song and have been performing it for years just as they did in Kill Bill.
