A senior administration official tells POLITICO that President Barack Obama on Friday will announce the end of the National Security Agencys telephone metadata program as it currently exists.
The official said Obama will order a transition that will end the Section 215 telephone metadata program as it currently exists, and move to a program that preserves the needed capabilities without the government holding this data.

If the program is obsessionally mandated, the president can’t end it.

From what I’m hearing he’s supposedly going to make them stop storing data and ask the phone companies and service providers to store it instead.
Its obvious crap anyway. The NSA is still building massive data storage centers and will likely force the phone companies to store the records in the NSA sites.

They’re still going to vacuum up all the data, though. Wrong approach.

President Barack Obama on Friday will announce the end of the National Security Agencys telephone metadata program as it currently exists. "We're going to fundamentally transform America."
They say what they mean, it's just usually in code.

Right. We believe this because both obammy the liar-in-chief and the NSA have given us soooo many reasons to trust and believe them... {snort}

Though I’m not sure if this is accurate, I gather his idea is that the NSA will still collect everybody’s information all the time, but once they collect it, it will be archived by a different federal agency. Which implies that since it is such a huge amount of data, a new federal agency will have to be created to do this.
Which is like rubbing horse manure into a gaping wound, for making a bad situation worse.
