Top Alaska Republican praises Begich (moderate republican protects [fellow] democrat!)

Sen. Mark Begich (D-Alaska) is drawing praise from across the aisle from one of Alaska's top Republicans.

Rep. Don Young (R), the state's lone congressman, praised the work Begich has done as senator.

"Mark's done a great job of, very frankly, representing people. He's not always on my page, that's for sure, but he's done a good job," Young told The Hill on Wednesday.

Young, the longest-serving House Republican, said he expected Begich to face a tough race, however, due to some of his votes for Democratic priorities.

"His big challenge is some of the votes he made are not popular in the state of Alaska and, very frankly, it's a serious red state," he said. "He's done a good job in six years, but, very frankly, it's going to be hard for him." Begich is a top GOP target in the heavily Republican state.

A trio of Republicans are vying for the nomination to run against him: Former Alaska Department of Natural Resources Dan Sullivan (R), Alaska Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell (R) and Tea Party favorite and 2010 Senate nominee Joe Miller (R).

Yet more proof that moderate republicans and democrats are the same thing, or at least move in the same direction. They work to shield each other from their common enemy: conservatives.

Dede Scozzafava, Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, Lincoln Chafee, Jim Jeffords, Lisa Murkowski, Richard Lugar, John Huntsman, etc.

Democrats and moderate republicans are allied against conservatives, so let's remove McConnell, Cornyn, Cochran, Collins, Enzi, Roberts, Graham, and Alexander along with any democrat we can!

If you ever met or knew Donny Young, you'd realize quick that he's no RINO. Donny Young will be our Congressman for as long as he so chooses; Alaskans trust him like Palin. Donny boy does what benefits Alaska, is a big second amendment guy, and will stand up to the Feds every time. He's a realist.

Begich doesn't stand a chance unless he switches to the Republican Party, that would save him. Begich screwed up with photo radar in mid 90's in Anchorage. He screwed up voting with the Dems everytime in Obama's first term. Then he screwed up on Obama Care; that will kill him dead with Alaskans and even Donny Young can't save him from that record.

I still have a big Miller sign in the shed, might have to hang it back up. Sad thing is Miller seems to have some baggage as Alaskans I know see it; right or wrong.

So why is Representative Young giving aid and comfort to the enemy? As you wrote, Senator Begich was (is?) a rubber stamp for the Obama regime. How can Begich possibly be both a “good senator” for Alaska and a loyal vote for the statist, all power vested in D.C. Democrats?

“If you ever met or knew Donny Young, you’d realize quick that he’s no RINO. Donny Young will be our Congressman for as long as he so chooses; Alaskans trust him like Palin. Well, you may like him personally and he may send you a lovely Christmas card every year but he’s a legislator, and should be judged for his votes and his actions. Here’s his conservative voting record. It’s piss poor. The idea that Alaska doesn’t have a single person who could represent them better is ridiculous. But he votes well on gun issues, screws you over on every other issue and you’re fooled every time and will defend him and sing his praises.

The proof is in the pudding, and in his votes, which are not conservative:

Conservative average: 50%

Heritage: 33%

FreedomWorks: 40%

Club for Growth: 57%

ACU: 71%

Don Young IS a RINO, but is a very shrewd one. He does what he has to to schmooze and fool the electorate into voting for him again and again. He’s been in the House since 1973. Do you think he’s a disciple of Reagan??

“But I’ve met Donny and he’s a very nice man!” His votes do not matter at all. He doesn’t represent Alaska, he represents himself.

Hope we can get rid of Begich this year.

If not, I’m going to start worrying about Alaska.

Haven’t you read? Representative Don Young will stand up to the feds every time, and he’s a big 2nd Amendment guy. But, he’s also a realist (which I guess means he votes for a lot of big government stuff along with the rest of the RINOs).

I’m not from Alaska, but if my representative says one thing and votes another, I’m going to do everything I can to vote him out of office. A Heritage rating of 33% is not good...for a conservative.

Dumb Young has been part of the problem for a long, long time. He has stated that the pork is out there, and it was his job to get as much as he could for Alaska. Never a thought at cutting any pork.
Socially conservative, yes, but apart from that a complete disaster on many levels and part of the problem.

I see well enough how the Repubs have stood up to Big "O". They ain't for crap.

You same folks cried the blues about Uncle Teddy, being such a Rino, such a crook, and how he needed replaced. Well, after all the legal set up hocus pocus, by Justice Dept; Ted Stevens got beat by a few thousand votes. The Repubs were ashamed of Uncle Teddy, same as you are of Donny Young. You end up with dem in the Senate when the Repubs don't turn out to vote.

I might not like Lisa, in fact never have since she won the state house seat in Anch in 1990's and all she talked about was womens issues; but I have to support her if she is the Repub candidate; or ya get even worse.

So go on and yap about Donny Young; Alaskans will vote him in every time. His daughters are half breeds, and I wish they'd run when Donny wants to start hunting more. The Indians in Alaska like him, the rural folks respect that old bush guy, and the Urban Repubs know he can't be beat. Only you folks in the lower 48 can't see the forest for the trees.
