It doesn't say his weapons were taken, but I hope they were. But, would they have the right to take his guns? If one threatens to attack one’s neighbors, is that enough to arrest someone and take his weapons? Certainly, if, as a sex offender, he was not allowed to have weapons, then they could take them.

He is a number one slime ball and has a following of people with him and I wondered how anyone could attach himself to this nut case.
