I’ve met some famous comics, and they were mostly messed up. Introverted, moody, lonely, dependant on drugs of various types etc.
Fun to meet, but not friend material, which was probably just fine with them too.

After reading a few autobiographies I'd say that they come from highly dysfunctional families.
Athletes tend to come from good families.

Athletes tend to come from good families. I am sure I could come up with a sizable list of basketball/football players that would contradict that statement.

I was just about to mention Andy Kaufman. He was an odd duck. His eyes were always wide open and I find that rather creepy.

He was a nutball, just as Jim Carrey is who played him in that stupid movie.
Carrey is really a flake. He went on and on about Emma Stone in some interview - really creepy. It was like “stalk much?”
Emma’s reaction was “Eeeeewwwwwww!”
Haha

Also more prone to suicide than many others.
Many are depressed and miserable in real life.

“Ive met some famous comics, and they were mostly messed up. Introverted...”
Introverted? That surprises me, I would think that a stand-up comic would have to be an extrovert to get up in front of that many people.

I have 4 comedian 'acquaintances' for that very reason. Most of them are so needy, it's annoying. Josh Blue is a friend, but he's the only normal one I've been able to have a normal conversation with. I can't imagine walking in any of their shoes, though.
