The 2014 midterm elections are just around the corner, and the race for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnells (R-KY) seat is heating up. Glenn spoke to Sen. McConnells primary challenger, Matt Bevin, in November and was impressed with his conservative values. New polling data shows Bevin is slowly but surely closing a very large gap against Sen. McConnell. And there is even worse news for Sen. McConnell he leads his presumed Democratic challenger, Alison Lundergan Grimes, by just one point in the polls.

Erps, already in the **minority**
Approve: 46%
Did anyone catch the meaning of this 46% approval ?
Any incumbent below 50% for a Senatorial Race is in deep doo-doo.
Bevin must beat him in the Primary or as Glenn notes the seat IS lost....
Approval isn't the same as voting preference, though. The number that matters is the one you get when you ask "which of these candidates do you prefer".
Bevin knocking off McConnell would be huge
The PhonyCon Liberal naysayers on here are getting tiring. DU must be full today

The higher disapproval numbers came from the liberal participants and became
positive with the more conservative participants. That said McConnell isn’t scoring
very high with his supposed GOP constituents.
I wouldn’t call a 2 to 1 lead being “in trouble”.
True. And that number is only going to get worse as Bevin relentlessly attacks McConnell over the next few months. As others have noted, the risk in trying to primary an incumbent (particularly a "prominent" one like McConnell) is that you may end up handing the seat to the other party. A race like this may end up being an all-or-nothing affair - either Bevin knocks off McConnell in the primary and rides a conservative wave in the general, or Bevin loses but damages McConnell enough for Grimey to take the seat.
Ditch Mitch!
McConnell couldn’t lose that election if he died....please! get real!!
nonsense...the people who actually answer the question certsinly do express an opinion....but the remainder of the population are too damned dumb to understand the question.....I have no time for the ignorant who consider themselves Americans....it is frightening to watch the late night shows and see people on the sidewalks who have no idea of who the vice-president of the U.S.is....they know who Justin bieber is but have no idea of when the civil war was fought nor the reason that it is of historical importance......and these idiots have a vote equal to yours....PATHETIC
