The elderly man accused of shooting a movie theater patron in Florida after an argument over text messaging told police that he fired because he "was in fear of being attacked."
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a news conference today that the victim, Chad Oulson, 43, was texting his young daughter's babysitter when an argument erupted with Reeves over texting during previews before the movie "Lone Survivor."

—I think everyone here gets that texting is rude. Do you get that a little girl is going to grow up without her father because some moron criminally shot him over texting?—
Wow, maybe he shouldn’t have been texting. You never know what kind of irrational response people might have to your incivility.
You need to better inform yourself about the situation as it occurred.

Stop defending this goon.
—Each situation has its own peculiarities.-—
That may be true but it means nothing insofar as your kneejerk reaction to this story. You are reacting the same way the Left did by attempting to blame this all on some hothead with a pistol and a Napoleon complex.
—Stop defending this goon.-—
Yes, we should all be defending all the other goons who don’t know how to act in polite society and/or follow the rules of the establishment they are visiting. Wonderful logic.
You must be very young. You cannot seem to imagine what it is to live in a free country, where civilized people simply do not blame a murder victim, even a rude one, when the murder was unjustified.
I'm glad I'm old -- I got to live in a free country. No more, when people are so willing to justify killing a texter for disrupting someone's movie "experience", which was about to display violence and shooting on the big screen.
The first rule of a CCW is to avoid confrontations.
The retired goon did the exact opposite. He instigated the confrontation, then escalated it.
Naturally, in your mind, anyone texting during the previews deserves to be shot.
Wonderful logic.P
Bringing a gun into the theatre and texting during the previews were both violations of theatre rules, not necessarily city/state/national law (not sure how the Fla CCW law is written so possessing the gun there could indeed have been illegal).
Either way, if you feel threatened enough over a bag of popcorn that you feel the need shoot someone, you are a miserable POS coward deserving of spending the remainder of your worthless life in prison and having your ass sued off in civil court.
Disgusting and repugnant would be more descriptive. But entirely expected. Before it is over, they will dig the dead man up and put him in the electric chair.
I think today's facts (as reported and photographed in multiple news sources) speak for themselves. Based on preliminaries in front of a judge, the shooter was pictured wearing a prison-issued suicide vest and not allowed to post bond. Given that police officers are often afforded the benefit of the doubt, this indicates that the prosecution is perceived by the judge to have a strong case.
And secondly, Zimmerman had a bloodied head and nose at the police station immediately after the shooting of Martin, evidence of an actual assault for which he claimed a right of self-defense. In the movie theater, however, the unarmed victim was only accused of throwing popcorn, and even that wasn't proved.
The firearm doesn't have enough frame mass to remain static during recoil and work the action. Additional resistance must be provided by the user (firm grip) which gives the slide the ability to recoil far enough to successfully eject the expended cartridge case and reload the weapon. The PF-9 will do the same thing if you don't grip it firmly.
yeah, what you said.
its frustrating though because the grip is so darn small its difficult to grip properly. I’m looking to upgrade as I’m concern that in the stress of an actual incident it may become a serious issue.
So during the PREVIEWS of a movie....when always there are people moving about, kids running around, restroom visitors, concession visitors, idle chit chatters...Do those ‘goons’ bother you also? Should those ‘goons’ be shot to?
Yeah. Ammo is expensive, too.
I agree if you are talking about the shooter.
Personally I won’t start or escalate a confrontation if I am armed. I am not armed out of fear, I am armed for the same reason Sam Colt was armed.
To be equal.
IIRC, someone was making a magazine with an extended base that allows you to get another finger on the grip. (But then, it isn’t as small). It’s an okay backup/boot gun, but I wouldn’t use it for a primary unless it was really hot out and I needed something pretty small.
Like breaking the neck of a 71yo who thinks he's God before he orphans another child? I can definitely visualize that irrational response.
I live in Tampa so it fits well with shorts a tshirt. Still, it would be nice if my gun didnt jam.
And You can't read, so I'll put My words in BOLD & UNDERLINE
I have not seen where the Manager confirms any contact.
And when you are done convincing the Gun grabbing left they are wrong, then get back to Me about this "agenda" I have.
I have not seen where the Manager confirms any contact.
As has been pointed out to Me by others I have no proof of this and am "uninformed" because I have not devoted every minute of My life to checking fact on all this case.
Your anger issues are loud and clear, noob. Or is it retread?
