The Weather Channel feed was switched to show WeatherNationTv just after midnight EST January 14th. the TWC logo is there still in the DirecTV channel lineup, but the content is WeatherNation.

See the proof, this screencap off my TV at 9:02PM PST (12:02 AM EST):

I won't miss them, the weather content is corrupted by anti-science warmist cult nonsense.

Pick a channel that isn't. Any channel, and let me know if you find one. That garbage has so seriously pervaded media, entertainment right down to kids cartoons, academic literature, and pop science that it will take generations to get rid of it.

Why can’t they remove that piece of garbage OWN Network.

Because one of the world's richest women owns it.

Good! And DirecTV has gone dark at my house...good riddance to both.

I'm just trying to figure out a good use for the dish. I understand you can make a handy-dandy wireless antenna out of one.

I stopped watching TWC fifteen years ago. Even then, you would have to wait through 15 minutes of advertisements to get 3 minutes of weather. The only thing I wanted was the animated radar map of my local area. Now I get that on the internet in 10 seconds.

In this age of instant information, there just has to be a more streamlined approach to finding out the current conditions.

I still LMAO when I think of that clip. Every time Michelle Kosinski does a report, I start singing “Row, row, row your boat......”. Would love to have heard her thoughts when those two guys came, walking on water, across her camera view.

There’s weather on your comp. or smartphone with Weather Underground, WeatherChannel site/app etc. Weather is on your radio, etc. and of course your local TV.

In face here in New England/Boston area the weather folks go gaga every time even minor snowstorms or nor’ easters show up. Many of us remember disasters like the blizzard of ‘78 when we were cooped up for days or weeks so now every time a storm is coming, TV gives us a French Toast alert. That’s right—go out now and buy milk! Bread! Eggs!

Boston talk host Howie Carr spoofs this with his character of Biff Buffington (”W-OMG! Storm Center”). Sound effects of wind, etc are played and he starts to shout:

“Oh my God it’s the end of the world! We might get two inches of snow! No wait—2 feet, no, 40 feet! Oh help! Help! I just saw a polar bear on the highway, he was ripping open cars! Go out to the store now, we may never have bread, milk, or eggs EVER AGAIN!!!!”

And the TV of course shows us shots of people going out to buy shovels and ice melter. There are shots of supermarkets with about 90 per cent on the milk gone. People boarding up windows. Thrill seekers on docks, just waiting to be washed overboard.

Apparently this has never happened before! Apparently people don’t have shovels anymore so they have to go out and buy them. That’s news! Oh, and be sure to buy about a month’s worth of food, even though the storm will be over in about 24 hours and things will quickly go back to normal.

Anyway do we need the Weather Channel? Apparently there are no other sources of weather info out there :)

OMG! A catastrophe-—call Congress! /s

I never watch TWC. I prefer my local weather people; they’re much more accurate.

"I am not at all familiar with WeatherNation what is their stance on Globo-warmin’"

I don't know the answer to that question, but WeatherNation looks more stripped-down and more about plain weather forecasting, from what I have seen.

Interestingly, the network began as a substitution channel for TWC during a Dish Network contract dispute:

You're right. I searched "weathernation global warming", and it seems they have indeed drunk the Kool-Aid. I brought up a WN site page containing all kinds of alarmist links.

I’ve used Weatherunderground for years, but my new Win8.1 laptop will sometimes either shut down the browser or do a complete reboot when I go to weatherunderground. I’m looking for another weather page that has the same amount of detail.

Use the mobile weather underground site. Same info, for the most part, and is very light on the browser. Link is http://m.wund.com/ and then enter your zip code. I use this on all my machines (computers [windows, linux, bsd], tablet, kindle, phones, etc.). You can also try the weatherbug app on phones and tablets. Its not the weather underground, but works well on my kindle fire...

Hey thanks. I don’t think that site would crash my old 386. I like it.
