I used to play coffeehouses back in the 70s and included a section in the show called "You Can Write a Neil Young Song!".

I asked the audience for three letters between A and G. Then, I asked them for a few random words.

Employing a typical Neil Young flat-picking style with lots of hammer-ons, I would play those three chords and make up a meaningless song using the random words and singing in a weird falsetto.

It always got big laughs because Neil Young is a joke.

... Neil Young is a joke.

If he's still performing, does he make jokes about being an old man when he does the song?

I never got the attraction of Young 40+ years ago. I doubt that I'm going to start to listen to his "moral pronouncements" now.

I remember a stand up comic on one of those late night shows in the 70s making fun of the solo on Down By the River.

Sure Mr. Young, let’s keep them First Nation forever. Nope, we don’t want them out of poverty or to have opportunity—what will all the Hollywood do-gooders look at and pretend to protect and care about then?

That’s hilarious.

Now I’m gonna have that whiny voice in my brain for the rest of the day.

In the meantime, someone should tell Neil...they don’t wanna kill them, they just plan to stuff cash in their mouths to shut up and let them drill.

Does anyone remember the name of the band he was in with Rick James? (Is that a weird combination, or what?)

The Honor the Treaties concerts in Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina and Calgary will help finance the ACFN lawsuit filed against Shell Oil for breaching contractual agreements signed over two open-pit-mining tar sands projects.

“Neil Young is a joke.”

I disagree. If you are in a melacholy or pensive mood, there is nothing better than listening to the “after the gold rush” album.

Maybe you are “mr. happy” all the time, then you might think Young is joke, but for those of us who play on both sides of the emotions aisle, Mr. Young can be wonderful.

But back to the real problem of celebrity entertainers who just because they stayed at a Holiday Inn Express automatically think they are experts in global warming, Neil Young could not pass freshman physics at a community college but somehow he is lecturing us on an extremely complicated system.
