America is set to be hit by another blast from the polar vortex - although temperatures are likely to be higher than last week's extreme conditions.
The polar plunge is expected to move south from Canada, bringing colder air and sub-zero temperatures to the US this week.
Forecasters say it will sweep over the lower Mississippi Valley and Midwest on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then hit the East on Thursday.
The main thrust of the cold air will follow up a couple of days later.

Anyone else remember the temperatures the week of Reagan's Second Inaugural? I was in a tent with 80 horses in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, when they canceled the Inaugural Parade. The temperatures were below zero several of those days.

Weather is blamed on global warming except when it isn’t. Global warming is responsible for hot summers and cool summers. Global warming is to blame for droughts and rains.
Oh... Hold on a second... Something in the fax machine... Oh sorry. It’s climate change. Yes, climate change.

I dunno, long term forecast here is pretty much within normals this coming week here... Last one blew the daily low temp record out of the water.

Heh, great cartoon. I miss the threads about that guy up in Alaska who used to do the Al Gore ice sculptures. He even had one plumbed to his truck's exhaust, so that hot air could blast from Al's prominent piehole.
I guess the sculptor figured that he'd made his point and went back to his family business. IIRC, the same guy turned up on one of those "prepper" shows last year or so.

Didn’t these used to be called “cold snaps”?

Farmers Almanac predicted a cold winter NOAA did not.

Didnt these used to be called cold snaps? Yes, in that time long ago where 90% of the govt and media wasn't geared toward total control of the populace.

I think what I would do in building said igloo would be to pile up the snow real high.
Then spray the outside with water to give it a really thick crust of ice. Once that’s done dig out the snow from inside to hollow it out.

Here in Buffalo it was known as an Alberta Clipper or Canadian Clipper. Now it’s a Polar Vortex? What BS. It’s WINTER people! Good grief Charlie Brown.
