America is set to be hit by another blast from the polar vortex - although temperatures are likely to be higher than last week's extreme conditions.
The polar plunge is expected to move south from Canada, bringing colder air and sub-zero temperatures to the US this week.
Forecasters say it will sweep over the lower Mississippi Valley and Midwest on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then hit the East on Thursday.
The main thrust of the cold air will follow up a couple of days later.

Cold weather in the northern USA in January... completely unheard of!
To: Kartographer
Well, if our forecast is to be believed, it is going to be a mere echo of what we endured last week:
- A 16 degree low, instead of -11
- A 26 degree high, instead of 1 degree F.
IOW, fairly typical January weather for here.

Oh sure, it’s so easy to blame Canada, we’re just a big target sitting up here with nowhere to move to.
Hey we didn’t create this crap, we’re doing as much driving & wood-burning as we can and it’s still not warming up this damn atmosphere. We’re getting steamrolled too!!

Will this be like the vortex in “The Final Countdown”?
Could be exciting! I say we drop a nuke in the middle of the Japanese fleet this time!

Yeah in KC 30’s and 40’s in the 10 day. 39 is the average high for this date so nothing strange going on here. There also wasn’t anything strange about it getting to -11 earlier this month. Weather is getting so exaggerated.

oh my
. I mean really??? Its winter folks
.
To be fair, the last one really was a record setter. We got to 6 below in my area in central KY. It usually gets into the low teens here. It really was significant, though I think this one will be much less relevant.
But you are right. It’s weather. It reminds me of ocean waves. Every 7th wave is a big’n. It happens.

You’d think with all the uproar over Arctic invasions we’d declare war on the the Eskimos.

Polar vortex, also known as COLD WEATHER BECAUSE IT IS WINTER!
To: Kartographer
actually, I’m so happy about this. I’ve been planning to build a 15 foot igloo in front of my house, and I was getting worried if it would be possible.
