That's an interesting comment. I thought LUV made money from serving the smaller markets. They do, and by flying point to point. But the 737 is the only thing they fly, and smaller aircraft will be more profitable in some markets.

Westjet out of Calgary, built its business based on the Southwest business model. In the last year however, they have introduced Bombardier Dash 8 Q400s for shorter routes like Calgary to Edmonton, approx 180 miles. With the Dash 8s, they have also expanded service to smaller Canadian centres.
