Students Stranded After Hundreds of Miami-Dade Bus Driver No-Shows [Protest Higher Health Insurance]

Hundreds of Miami-Dade bus drivers played hooky from work Friday in an apparent strike over wages and benefits, making several students late and leaving some stranded at bus stops.

Some 242 out of 1,300 bus drivers didn't show up for work Friday, leading to problems at 80 schools...

The bus drivers were asking for a 17 percent increase in their health benefits for this year.

"Insurance keeps going up, union keeps going up, everything's going up, and we're not getting no raise," said bus driver Terry Barrett.

Most of these drivers appear to be low information voters. Obamacare is biting them in the butt, yet they do not realize it.

Must note that most Florida school bus drivers are not union nor receive benefits. Only in more liberal and less diverse areas near Miami have unions, etc

The irony here is absolutely glaring. These union twits are using their union “prviliges” by going on strike as a result of the consequences of a policy that their leadership, whom they follow blindly, told them that they needed to fight for.

So they want a 17 percent increase in their premiums or for the county to cover 17 percent more of the cost ?

In the article, (I know, who reads the article) the union to their credit says they knew nothing about the "strike" and did not sanction it and even helped to cover some of the routes...

Of course that can be complete BS since after all, it is a union...

Where I live, school bus drivers are part time, getting at most about 20 hours per week and in the summer, zero hours per week.
