Haven't you figured out that Washington D.C. is filled with @ssholes who have no sense of propriety, honesty, loyalty, etc. in their lives?
I read somewhere that Robert Gates paid a team of lawyers around $60,000 to go through all of the legal requirements of getting vetted for the Defense Secretary post. Anyone who thinks he spent $60,000 of his own money to qualify (without any certainty of success) for a cabinet position that pays a salary of about $190,000/year is delusional. He invested $60,000 of his own money in that effort because he went into that job for the purpose of signing a major book deal after he left.
I don’t care if Gates BOUGHT his position in person and directly from Mooshill, I am grateful for what and whom he has exposed. He has the cred, by virtue of his experience under two presidents from two different parties, and can not be blown off on the merits.
Small potato charges, gossip and innuendo will never cut it.
I don’t think you have any concept of Gates’ earning power, even if he had just stayed at A&M. As for the book deal, it is nothing like what Ike got for writing his memoirs.
And don’t forget, soon he’ll be a consultant and also sit on the boards of a dozen corporations. Pure corruption. And Gates is a lowlife too.
If he had stepped out of a meeting at the White House, called a press conference and made the same accusations, maybe he could have saved some Marines and Soldiers lives.
But he sits on it to publish in a book,, years later.
They risk their life,, he won’t risk his paycheck. Turd.
