I learned, much to my dismay, about parasites from watching “Monsters Inside Me”. China and other foreign countries, including Latin America, market food, including meats, fish and fruit, that can be hazardous, even deadly; they contain parasites that are truly dangerous. I am so grateful that you have provided this in-depth information to everyone.

They’re sneaking in tainted chinese honey, too by bringing it in via another country to disguise its origin.

Del Monte Mandarin Oranges in jar = China.
Del Monte Citrus Salad, Red Grapefruit slices in jars = Mexico.

Hard to do. Half the garlic in Gilroy (The Garlic Capitol of the World) is from China.

Be very careful about seafood. Unless you’re sure that the seafood you’re eating has been locally caught, skip it. It’s probably coming from China and they have absolutely no hygene standards for the production of seafood that they grow and export. After reading an article about ther shrimp that’s served in most restaurants I’ll never, ever buy shrimp at a chain restaurant again.

I would also avoid anything that comes in contact with your food, such as plates. My wife wanted new dinner/salad plates and bowls for Christmas, and I had to do some extra research to find a brand not made in China and not containing any lead.

Just called Green Giant customer service— said their vegetables were not from China and they are labeled with country of origin if imported. She also indicated that would also include ingredients

Drive old cars, wear second hand clothes, BUT DO NOT SKIMP ON WHAT GOES INTO YOUR BODY. It becomes you and determines your health. Check origins of everything going into your mouth or onto your skin.

Good article.

How is it possible to ship food from China cheaper than having it produced in the U.S. or Canada?

Farm Subsidies and a host of downright dumb OSHA, Dept of Ag, Dept of Labor regulations, minimum wage and a host of other policies that have killed American independence in the food supply.

Thanks for the info. I must admit I've been having a bit of a wake up call considering what you find when you begin researching the issue. For those that know my posting history, I'm realizing free-trade with communists is probably a really bad idea.

Thanks for posting this.

I have been looking at the labels a lot more lately. Many packages just say “distributed by” with no origin. You have to call a companys headquarters to find out where things are coming from and even then they can’t necessarily tell you where all the ingredients are from. I would like to know where all the ingredients come from- not just where it is manufactured. (remember the flour in the cat and dog food coming from china- all poison)

Motts apple juice at Costco- it says “china” - stamped on the plastic bottle in very small letters- barely readable.

I do not buy things labeled “Distributed by” big clue that it is foreign. Pay particular attention if you have pets! Look for made in USA or Canada.

Rather than having an ‘Environmental Protection Agency’ (EPA) that protect snail darters and other assorted liberal elite delusions...

MAYBE we should have...

A Citizen Protection Agency (CPA) that protects citizens from abuse by countries that pay-off our congress creeps... Pay-offs that allow foreign countries to poison our families and pets.. (yeah, all that dog food that was poisoned came from Asia...)

And while the CPA is protecting us from being poisoned they can also protected us from democrat totalitarians who think they're above the law...

Check this out personally. I did. Steinfeld’s Pickles are made in India – just as bad!

I don't know. My wife's family in India seems to get sick with GI stuff less than I do here.

Never buy any type of fish or shellfish that comes from these countries: Vietnam, China, Philippines.

I don't know. Wonder how FReepers like AlexW manage to survive if it's so bad.
