If you have not heard, the National Republican Senatorial Committee has attacked nationally syndicated conservative radio host and best selling author Mark Levin.
They publicly attacked Mark Levin because the Jim DeMint created Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) gives out copies of Mark Levins book. The NRSC alleges a quid pro quo relationship to help drive up the popularity of Levins book. The book was published in 2009 before SCF was a significant force and had already become a best seller before SCF gave out copies.
This attack follows the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) attacking conservative businesses and threatening to drive them from business because they happen to do business with the Senate Conservatives Fund. The NRSCs tactics mirror the harassment the IRS inflicted on tea party groups.
Those attacks came after US News and World Report columnist Brian Walsh leveled attacks on conservative groups, including the Senate Conservatives Fund, for daring to hold Republicans accountable for their promises. Subsequent to that column US News and World Report had to admit Brian Walsh is on the payroll of the NRSC.
The Chamber of Commerce, the Main Street Partnership, the NRSC, and lobbyists galore in Washington are coordinating attacks on conservative groups and conservative candidates for daring to champion limited government and hold the GOP accountable for breaking promises. These groups have no interest in supporting limited government and free markets. They support their government and their markets with your tax dollars.
The GOP in Washington has decided that the problem is not government, but Democrats in charge of government. And theyve decided to punish any conservative who points out government itself is the problem. Conservative groups are attacked by Republican leaders. Conservative candidates are attacked by Republican leaders. Conservative talk radio hosts are attacked by Republican leaders.
The single biggest thing you can do to clean up the GOP is to defeat Mitch McConnell in Kentucky by supporting Matt Bevin. The NRSC attacks all came after the Senate Conservatives Fund decided to support Bevin. The attacks on Mark Levin came after he spoke kindly of Matt Bevin. The attacks on conservative candidates came after Matt Bevin became a credible candidate.
All these attacks came because Mitch McConnell would rather rule in Hell than serve in Heaven. He would rather a Senate GOP minority with himself in charge than a Senate GOP majority with himself retired.
You beat Mitch McConnell, you will find many Republican squishes with squishy soiled underwear. Until you beat Mitch McConnell, these guys in Washington will neither respect you nor fear you.
But when you beat the sitting Senate Republican Leader in a primary, suddenly Washington knows the grassroots are in charge. The attacks on conservatives will only get worse until conservatives beat Mitch McConnell.
And we have our chance with Matt Bevin.
Walker comes across like a GOP-E, but actually functions like a quasi-conservative. What do you think about him?

INHO, this makes a lot of sense. The purpose of the NRSC to to get pubbie Senators elected. Especially incumbents, since that’s usually much easier than a newbie.
However, that does NOT mean I agree with the NRSC. McConnell needs to go, as does Boehner. Neither of them comes close to my mental model of a “conservative, small government, low taxes, more freedoms, less regulations” candidate.
I’d gladly vote for Matt Bevin if I could. Instead, I’ll happily vote against linda graham in the primary.
People in KY revere McC, but no on knows why.
People in SC would still be voting for Strom if he were alive at 112.
Kentucky...Are YOU listening???
Texas already has its sights set and the target is zeroed...
March 4th cannot come quick enough...
Lets see how well we both can do...
There is no way that McConnell with his huge sources of funding from corporations all over the nation (world) will be defeated by donations only from Kentucky.
Since McConnell is in a national-level position (minority leader), it’s going to take a nation of conservatives to put cash in his opponent’s pockets.
I’ve not done it yet, but I’m thinking about it. Erickson makes a good point here. Taking down the big guy will get attention. More importantly, it will get rid of a turncoat leech.
In a letter received yesterday, The Senate Conservative Fund describes Bevin as an underdog.
How is he actually faring in Kentucky among the voters?
He has no money and little name recognition. I’m across the river from Kentucky, but close to Cincinnati, so we get a lot of broadcasting directed at Northern Kentucky, a big population base in KY.
McConnell has left off attacking Bevin and gone after his democratic opponent. He knows the guy has very few resources, so McConnell was able to define him early and then forget about him.
Well, I am not only talking about donations...Tht is important for exposure and getting the word out for your candidate...
I am talking about your voting base...Are they engaged, are they pizzed off about this politician who is teaming up to sell this country down the river???
Enough to toss him out on the street???
These people ARE NOT above reproach, and it IS up to us in the rank and file grassroots that need to stay focused and take out the trash now...We’ve been fiddle farting around for way too long, and the time is now to rid ourselves of the political cowards that are only looking to justify their existance and continued disservice to their districts, their states and their country...
And the grassroots needs to be extremely un-apologetic about it!!!
Thanks. Stockman will get my vote.
Thanks for posting.
Outstanding essay.
The “Single Biggest Thing You Can Do to Clean Up the GOP” is to stop compromising the core republican principles that made the Old Party Grand in the first place.
I heard Levin talk about this — absolutely disgraceful.
Corrections need to made where possible during the primaries, with limited election-day options.
Vote out the RINOs!
