It’s OK Michael, it won’t last long.
Well.....Bye.
The big problem now is that churches are so squishy they never say, ok, you did an evil thing and you’re going to die - so repent now, or this burning (whether physical or simply the worm of sorrow and regret) will last forever if you die without asking forgiveness.
Once upon a time, the condemned person was always accompanied to the gallows by a priest (in Catholic cultures...I would assume there was frequently a minister present in Protestant cultures) so that if he hadn’t repented before then, he could do so formally at the last moment. This probably saved a lot of souls and the killers’ repentance probably also made the families of the victims feel better.
But now churches have abandoned the eternal souls of these people and stand around lighting candles to regret their passing. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Indeed. Everyone wants to live with the fantasy that everything turns out all RIGHT in the end. Unfortunately, many will learn too late that it turns out all WRONG if they do not know the Salvation of God through Christ.
FU POS! you feeling like your body is on fire is NOTHING compared to what the Yost family has gone through. How did it feel to Mr. Yost while you and your butt buddies beat him with a bat. We waited too long for you to cease to exist on this earth, yet another reason vigilante justice is best!
The problem is that WE are not savages.
I'm very pro-death penalty, but "modern" methods are neither as effective nor as morally neutral as the good stuff.
Long-drop hanging or the guillotine do the job with a pull on the lever, and are as instantaneous as it's possible to be.
he is going to be feeling the burn for eternity
It will be used by activist lawyers to claim this method of execution is cruel and should be outlawed.
Or God’s way of telling all those non-believers, “talk to the hand”
The thing is, it IS cruel.
Severing the head from the body is the least cruel method, followed by a long-drop hanging.
Let's get back to basics.
You're quite right. But The Lord did not implement it. Evildoers choose this route for themselves. They choose to ally themselves with Satan and his demons, and they choose to reject the love and peace and light God offers. Hell is full of self-selecting volunteers, not draftees.
We are given free will to decide our own course in life, either growing closer to the Lord at each choice point, or further away. God wants His creatures to give Him real love, which (logically) cannot be coerced. Yet free will necessarily supposes the ability to choose other than the one positive heaven-ward course.
I think of the scene in the film ‘Ghost’ where the demons take the murderer down to hell.

Kind of depends on how the head is severed, doesn’t it. Regardless of method, beheading is too damn messy.
Hanging, however, has a long history of success without much muss or fuss.
Amazing how people like this always seem to find Jesus in prison, especially on Death Row...
So if you wanna find Jesus, just start there...You might get lucky...
Great post.
“Dont go there.”
I don’t plan on it.
“Theres not?”
Jesus is my Savior, but I don’t believe God punishes man through eternal burning. There are other ways his laws work out.
How the HELL do you know?
I believe there is hell, but not an eternal physical burning.
