Symptoms included dry eyes, blurry vision, fatigue and neck and shoulder cramping. The survey released Thursday by the Vision Council, a trade group for makers of eye care products, warned of serious long-term eye risk, including macular degeneration and cataracts.

Me too. I try to remember to look out the window periodically to focus on far away objects.

I only get eye strain trying to read by those curly tailed light bulb.

Yes, I’ve tried them and detest the horrible yellowish glow. Fortunately for me, I laid in a life time supply of old style 100 watters.

This study was probably funded by the tort plaintiffs’ attorney bar to create a new class of workers’ comp or other set of legal claims.

My recent eye discomfort was diagnosed as "dry eye" ... and the doctor said it was more than likely from too many hours on the PC.

The bright white on web pages causes me to get a mild form of snow blindness. I have changed the default bright white background to a shade of gray and it has helped quite a bit.

Using Firefox select tools in the top menu list then in the drop down select Options. In the pop up window select Content then select colors. In the new window select background and change the color to what is comfortable to your eyes. It is basically the same using IE.

I work for a large corporation that does their best to minimize ergonomic problems. I was having dry eye/eye strain issues, and they sent an ergonomist up to my office for an evaluation.

Turns out my problem was caused by staring intently at columns of numbers on my computer screen all day. It seems many people will have a tendency to not blink as often as they need to when doing that kind of work.

Just being made aware of that fact (along with some eyedrops) allowed me to fix the problem.
