Former Republican U.S. Senator Dick Lugar (R-IN) has donated $5,000 to the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Georgia.
Are you surprised?
You shouldn't be. There's a pattern of liberal Republicans abandoning the Party. •Arlen Specter switched parties when he was challenged in a primary by Pat Toomey (R-PA).
•Charlie Crist left the Party to run as an Independent when he was challenged in a primary by Marco Rubio (R-FL). Crist later endorsed Barack Obama and is now running for Governor in Florida as a Democrat.
•Lisa Murkowski abandoned the Party to run as a write-in candidate after she lost the primary to Joe Miller (R-AK) in 2010.
•Dick Lugar refused to support Richard Mourdock (R-IN) after he lost his primary in 2012. Now Lugar is openly backing a Democrat in Georgia who could cost Republicans the majority in the Senate this year. PRIMARIES MATTER
The Republican establishment accuses us of being anti-Republican when we try to replace incumbents with true conservatives, but our candidates actually believe in the Party's platform and they don't leave it when they lose an election.
The establishment only cares about the Republican Party to the extent that it gives them power. Once it no longer serves that purpose, they take their marbles and go home. Their ideology is power.
The establishment keeps telling us to just elect more Republicans, but what good is that if the Republicans we elect don't share our values?
Republicans have a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives today, but they have helped the Democrats raise taxes, increase the debt limit, and pass full funding for Obamacare. And now they are planning to pass a bloated farm bill and amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Amen to that. There's the Uniparty, and the Second Party, which makes sense too because the 2nd Amendment is the one thing that pretty much unifies. A lotta Democrat Americans are pro 2nd amendment (and sick of excess government).
Whichever party is the one that bans "conservatives" like Romney, a functional Democrat to whom the basic principle of government-run health care was perfectly okay. That's exactly the kind of guy who is OUT from the start. Banned.
Whichever party that one is. Because if a guy like Romney, with his documented record, can call himself a Republican and run for president ... then it's the wrong party for me. I want the one where you get to vote the other way.
That would have to be the Second Party. :^)
Lesson for Conservatives voting for a republican who votes with democrats is pointless. Having a Republican majority is useless if the leaders votes support democrats.

Yes, the uniparty is strong and will most likely remain in control of electoral politics in the US. And that’s one reason why I’ve decided to try to control my voting addition....One Election At A Time. And like any recovering addict, I have a bit of the zeal of the converted. But I digress.
Lemme tell you a little bit about the uniparty that you might not have thought about. We all know that the ‘rat and gop factions aren’t much different from each other, that they’re corrupt, and basically want the same thing: power for power’s sake through growth of state control. But let’s talk about one thing that isn’t so much talked about: the uniparty is really good at ensuring that their hegemony remains unchallenged. I mean they’re really, really good at it. They’ve had over 150 years of practice. So the chances of us our actually getting a second party that can challenge the uniparty’s hegemony is pretty slim.
There isn’t much point in voting or working to elect a second party when the uniparty controls access to the ballot, makes the rules for voting, controls the elections, and counts the votes. The end result isn’t much in question.

And the heartbreaking part is that there are really are some very good conservatives who try their best to stand up in front of a tsunami. They burn up their resources and themselves trying to win a rigged game.

Y’know, things would be a lot better for conservatives if we stopped paying so much attention to what the kakistocrats were doing and simply lived our lives as if they were of minimal relevance.
Thank you for contacting me about the purchase of Russian helicopters for use by the Afghan military.
As you may know, the U.S. Department of Defense plans to buy 21 Mi-17 helicopters for the Afghan National Security Forces from the Russian company Rosoboronexport by 2016. Some members of Congress have opposed this sale due to the support that Russia has provided to President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria. I understand these objections, and I condemn the Assad regime’s continued massacring of its people.
However, the fact remains that the United States has already entered into a contract with Rosoboronexport, which the Pentagon has determined is the only viable source for the helicopters needed by the Afghan military. Failure to provide the Afghans with the appropriate infrastructure may hinder efforts to make the Afghan forces responsible for their own security. The situation in Syria remains fluid, and I will be sure to keep your comments in mind in the days and weeks ahead.
