The U.S. Attorney in New Jersey will probe the scandal surrounding the lane closures on the George Washington Bridge, a scandal that has engulfed Gov. Chris Christie, the New York Times is reporting.
Christie, a possible Republican White House candidate, is holding a news conference at his office in the state capital of Trenton this morning.
The controversy erupted with the public release of incriminating emails showing that a top Christie aide played a key role in closing some lanes to the bridge, in a ploy to punish the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee, New Jersey, who didn't endorse Christie for re-election.

Absolutely! This was well timed and professionally conducted. Who has the most experience in such an operation? The Clinton crime syndicate? An order doesn’t even have to be given either. Loyalists simply act independently.
Note: I am not a Christie supporter.
How about all of the congress critters watching today’s presser. Talk about a reminder about what’s in store for them if they indicate a desire to go off the reservation... this is really a sinister moment in history.
Even if Christie is a big fat liar and did all of this by himself, the frenzy by the press to get to the bottom of this, as fast as they have, and as zealous as they are in doing it, IS THE REAL STORY, as they abrogate, and while they abrogate, their free press responsibility to investigate the Kenyan in the white hut. Makes my blood boil.
At least he only fired the people who were detrimental to his political career.
None ended up at parks or in plane crashes.
Agree...
I understand your problem with wasted money, but please believe me when I tell you that the surge from Sandy did an enormous amount of damage.
He probably has the same MO as Obama. Don't give direct orders for such actions to maintain deniability. But make sure your underlings are aware that you will be pleased if vindictive actions are taken against opponents.
The difference is, the media doesn't question when Obama does it, but will be all over Christie for it.
Sandy was not a nothing storm. There was a confluence of factors that made it bad - the storm surge hit at high tide, full moon, east winds blowing water into funneling harbors - natural factors, not graft.
And people’s fondness for living on the water, but that is not graft either. Houses not on stilts, most of them older houses not built to Florida hurricane code - the last storm hitting the area comparable to Sandy was in 1821, although maybe the Great Storm of 1938, which hit New England, should have been a warning.
The parts where buildings were badly damaged by the surge not extensive - the north Jersey shore, parts of NYC, and the east edge of Long Island, but they were hit hard.
I live inland where we didn’t have it bad but so many trees came down rescue squads couldn’t reach any hospitals - we had to take a woman in labor to a field hospital, and she had to walk from ambulance to car to ambulance to make it there. Not much rain, no flooding for us, but the winds were BAD.
Southerners are not going to forget sending electricians to help get the power back on and having them sent back immediately for not being union.
Christie and Holder deserve each other. Maybe he will want to put both arms around Obama this time.
they are now expert consultants.
LOL you may be right.

Alas! Christy has run out of ‘Poppers.’
Gov. Christy: I did not have sex with that bridge. ;)
Actually it was “Bridge Dirctional Equality” policy being enforced, which assures equal numbers of blacks cross the bridge as whites. It was discovered that blacks were unable to cross the GWB in the same numbers as whites, so the obvious government solution is to limit crossings to a rate which shows equality.
CBS running with this right off the bat....
8 full minutes on CBS. Lead story
