Have her grab the dentist by the nads and state she won’t hurt him as long as he doesn’t hurt her.

Prayers up anyway.

I've used Ground Cloves in the past and it's worked for me. Other ideas.

I just went through this last week with my own daughter. It was painful enough even with the meds. Prayers for fast relief for this young mother. The pain is very, very real and severe. Heat or ice compresses on jaw may help, depending on whether the tooth can tolerate it. God bless her dear heart and restore her completely.

Cotton swab soaked in clove oil, oil of oregano and tea tree oil. Use a spit cup, you don’t want to swallow tea tree oil.

Found this:

About Clove oil and how it works

This medicine is a traditional remedy that temporarily relieves toothache that has been caused by a dental cavity. Clove oil has a local anaesthetic effect and temporarily numbs and relieves the pain.

This medicine is available in the form of a gel which is applied sparingly and directly into the aching tooth cavity. Do not apply the gel on to the gums or the mouth as it may cause irritation. It should not be used continuously.

Consult your dentist as soon as possible as this medicine only gives temporary relief.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

This medicine is not known to cause any problems during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. However, as with all medicines, you should seek medical advice from your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Not many things worse than a bad tooth. Being pregnant on top of it certainly complicates things.

I had something nearing a phobia of going to the dentist. Going just terrified me for whatever reason.

I went about 15 years without going. That, combined with having an office job where I’d be sipping on Mountain Dews all day eventually had a toll on me. I had a tooth ache, went to the dentist, and after an Xray/visual inspection, the Dentist tells me that I’d need two extractions and 17 Root Canals. I went to an Oral surgeon and had all of them removed. Gonna get implants.

Have her call her obstetrician regarding pain meds that are safe for her to take. A few years ago I had a root canal on a Friday and was fine until Saturday and the pain was severe. I had leftover pain meds in the house from a prior surgery and took one and it didn’t touch the pain. My dentist had given me his home phone number so Sunday morning I called him and he met me at his office. The problem was the “occlusion” was off and all he did was file the tooth. Almost immediately the pain wasn’t as severe and it was easily controlled with prescription pain medication. Monday my face was swollen and black and blue but the pain was gradually subsiding and in another couple days I was fine. I will pray for your daughter-in-law b/c I know first hand that what she’s going through is excruciating.

Is there some reason she can't have the root canal done? Local anesthetic and root canals are painless. I've had several of them. Maybe back in the old days they were painful but believe me they aren't any more. Are pregnant women not supposed to have local anesthesia?

Oh, so sorry!! Will say a bedtime prayer for her.

Lost one of my front teeth years ago from an unidentified infection — root canal and all. A few weeks ago it came out again and I’m in the process of getting an implant which has been horribly painful! Mouth was ripped all apart from cutting in the front and back to remove old roots and provide a “core” of healthy tissue from the back of my mouth.

I hate and despise pain meds but woke up around 1 AM in horrible, major pain from the stitches and cutting! DH found the pain meds the dentist prescribed and gladly took one for pain and swelling.

Can only imagine the pain your (future) daughter-in-law is going through, plus the early stages of pregnancy are NOT easy (been through it twice, LOL).

Wish her all the best!! — and hurry up the wedding!!

Prayers up. Look into cloves as others here have suggested. God has already provided all that we need. We just need to find it and use it. I had clove oil soaked gauze placed in 2 dry sockets after some extractions. A miracle relief. Only prob. problem was that everything tasted like cloves for what seemed like weeks. Answer, butterscotch pudding goes well with clove. Applesauce also. (hint: slightly warm the Applesauce to avoid sensitively to cold.)
