MARK LEVIN LAYS OUT PLAN FOR CURBING GOVERNMENT EXPANSION: 'THANK GOD FOR THE TEA PARTY'
Breitbart ^ | January 6, 2014 | by Jeffrey Poor

Posted on 01/07/2014 10:08:09 AM PST by Jim Robinson

Some conservatives see the ballot box as their only means of recourse against an out-of-control government. But over the last three national elections, including the 2010 midterm elections that propelled the Republicans to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives, things haven’t worked out as planned.

Mark Levin, author of The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic, charts a path to reel in the growth of this ever-expanding federal leviathan by harnessing the sentiment that inspired the Tea Party movement.

In a three-hour interview he conducted with C-SPAN that aired Sunday night, he praised the Tea Party movement and explained what their grievances are with the current state of the union.

“Thank God for the Tea Party,” Levin said.

"The Tea Party is the modern-day conservative constitutional movement. And without it, the debt would be bigger. The unfunded liabilities would be bigger and the federal government would be even more consolidated. So, I think it is a crucially important movement. I think it needs to grow and I think if the Republican Party wants to go to war, apparently it does, with the Tea Party movement, then the Republican Party is going to lose because the Tea Party is, there as I say in Ameritopia, is nothing more than citizens – hard-working, taxpaying citizens that have had enough, who see the $90, now $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities, see the massive federal debt just more, more and more, see the fecklessness of the Republican Party, see the radicalness of the Democratic Party and they say enough is enough."

Levin anticipates a defeat for the Republican Party if it tries to go to war with the Tea Party...

You are right. It’s disappointing to hear him bash people who’ve come to that realization.

I’m glad you put BEGIN in all caps. Because it is only the beginning because it will fail. It should be tried, but only set up the real solution: secession.

You haven't read Mark's proposed amendments. They are structural changes that de-consolidate power in Washington DC.

I’ve not read the book. I listen to his show every day. I’d like to ask you a question. Who enforces these new amendments? I think the most likely outcome would be the federal government, with their massive resources and partisans, would simply ignore the amendments, maybe get a few judges to take a dump on the states, and we’d just have more of the same. I’m for the process. If it works, great, but I don’t think it will work. I’m also for skipping it and working on something that will work.

Thanks for the ping Jacquerie and thanks to KarlinOhio for a link to the full 3 hour interview with a rant free, brilliant Mark Levin @ reply #5.

Well the problem with Mark is that once he decides what the answer is thats the end of it. Then of course he has written a book about it and now he is trying to sell his book. I’m not dissing him for selling a book but you have to keep that in mind. I tend to agree with Levin more than I disagree but his arrogance annoys me and sometimes he’s just wrong. He’s just wrong about the 10th ammendment.

I think Marks amendments are a starting point. I would take far more power from the feds. For example, judicial review from the courts, the right to tax from congress, repeal of the 17th amendment. Repeal of the 16th amendment. Institution of a notational retail sales tax. Elimination of transfer payments of any type. Prohibit property taxes of any kind. These in addition to Marks amendments or in replacement of some will fix our runaway government for the next 250 years. The problem is getting it implemented. Consider though the likely alternatives, a COS, or acquiescence to tyranny, civil war. IMHO the COS is the best option.

Thanks, Jim.

To Mark Levin: The SILENT MAJORITY found their voice, and became the Taxed Enough Already Party.

DC is NOT following the Constitution as written right now.

What makes you think they'll follow new Constitutional limits?

The amendments suggested by Levin in #47 are almost all structural. The DC uniparty cannot get around them.

The Constitution says that all tax bills are supposed to start in the House.

They’re ignoring it.

The Constitution says that they can’t prevent us from practicing our religion.

They’re ignoring it.

The Constitution says there can be no retroactive laws.

They’re ignoring it.

Do I need to go on?

I agree. If there is a con con now.. you can say goodbye to the second amendment... forget freedom of religion and speech and every other right. The states are pawns of the fed because they are the biggest recipients of government handouts. If there is a con con... we will become worse than China. Our founders carefully studied every form of government and spend lots of time debating (non pc debating). These people just want you to sit down, shut up and give all your labor to them for free. In return you will get food, medicine, healthcare and transportation rations. You will be forced to return all property to the state. Nasty idea. Won’t work. People no longer desire freedom, they desire free.

The CSPAN page for this interview leads me to believe there will be a rebroadcast on January 11 at 0900. I assume eastern time. Check your schedule locally.

I don’t know that many people (I am thinking of my father here) can tolerate sitting in front of a computer for 3 hours... but they can DVR it and watch from the comfort of their couch whenever they want.

The only thing keeping the GOP alive right now, IMNVHO, is that many voters fear that a Third Party will lead to a permanent Left majority.

The GOP long ago decided that it would "go along to get along." It accepted gerrymandered safeseats and a permanent minotity status in exchange for a good part of the swag.

The GOP elected offer "consumer services" to their constituents instead of representing them and their views. IOW, they offer intercession with the various branches of the bloated bureaucracy, especially for those who can pay for it.

The various agencies of the federal bureaucracy write the bills that are passed in conjunction with lobbyists. The Congress members have absolutely no idea of what they are voting on or passing. E.G., Not a man jack of'em knows what's in Obamacare. (Neither does the President.)

We now have Government by Government.

I hope that somehow the 17th Amendment can be rescinded to place selection of Senators in the hands of state legislators and governors. That might be a start on the long hard road back to constitutional government instead of imperial presidencies with Third World voters that reminds me more of the 18th C Spanish Empire than it does a country of truly free citizens.
