And if it were a Polish Vortex, it would no doubt include sausage, pierogies and lots of beer.

Not to mention fresh made kielbasi. Along with a good Hunters Stew.

Traditonal Easter breakfast when I was growing up was cold cooked kielbasi, hard boiled eggs, horseradish, pumpernickel or other dark bread, and farmer's cheese.

It's still comfort food to me years later.

Weatherspark.com has historic weather records in graphic format. I think I found it referenced here some time ago.

the lack of critical thinking in our culture is astounding. “Weather” has morphed into “climate change” and then again into “man-made climate.change”.

lack of “adequate health care” became lack of “health insurance”. Now obammy is fixing that by degrading all health care.

I am sure that the common core national curriculum will further reduce the chances for a child to learn how to think.

...but at least we will feel good about ourselves because we had good motives. (\sarc).

Joe Bastardi has been calling it the polar vortex and he’s pretty reliable in my book.

Here in a couple of days we’re supposed to get up near 40 degrees during the day which is just fine with me.

Is a Polar Vortex like a Shutnado?

I'm so glad I've been tee vee free for 6 years, I don't have to put up with this hysteria 4 times an hour during commercial (and info) breaks in programming.

Re how to open a Taun Taun. Lightsaber. Didn’t you see the movie? I hear it is available on VHS and CDs.

May the farce be with you.

Taun Taun - the other white meat. Goes well with a chilled chianti and fava beans.

Taun Taun - what Hillary would look like with horns.

Taun Tauns - what Michelle used to eat for lunch (which is why they are extinct on earth).

Polar vortex is a meteorological term that has been used for decades to describe an Arctic cyclone.

I don’t find myself yelling at the actors and actresses on the newsroom broadcasts because I no longer have to endure their malarky.

Watch the youtube compilations of 2013 news bloopers. The language, the immaturity, the lack of any commmon sense or judgement.

They get a script, they spout the talking points, no questiones asked.

I recall a column back in the 80’s by a Canadian writer attempting to convince Americans that Canada was a peaceful nation and had no intent of starting a war so, please stop calling all arctic air cold fronts a “Canadian invasion”.

Yep. His dad was a meteorologist at Texas A&M...and so Joe B has probably been talking about the polar vortex as long as he could walk.

The polar vortex has been spoken about in meteorologist circles for longer than JB's been alive. I guess my problem with the article was the statement it was created by the left. That of course is not true. That would be like saying the left created a cat 5 hurricane because the media is talking about it.

What really happened is the media has finally figured out there is such a thing and is looking for a way to explain the cold in a way that suits their agenda. If they haven't heard the phrase before...and if Rush hasn't...its just ignorance on their part (and we are all ignorant about some things...I don't know French...so).

I think we are headed for a record tonight. The record is -20 set in 94 and we’re at -18 now (-45 wind chill) I can easily see -25 about the time the sun comes up.

It's been cold before in these parts, it'll be cold again, only we used to do it without all the hype.

Amen! Give the man a BOX of cigars for that statement.

I'm not a meteorologist but I've definitely heard the term "polar vortex" in the past. I also remember cold snaps that were much more severe than the current one that the media is so worked up over.

Winter of 1976-77, it was so cold that Lake Erie froze completely over in mid-December. That was the year that parts of Buffalo got buried in 10 feet of snow over a two day period. Not snow that fell from the sky but snow that was blown into the city from the frozen surface of Lake Erie by a powerful windstorm.

In January of 1982, most of the Midwest was kept below zero for 11 straight days (including Chicago) with wind chills reaching -70 to -80 below at times.

Back then, the talk was not of global warming but of a coming ice age.
