One of the men seeking the GOP nomination for Nebraskas open Senate seat is proposing moving the capital from Washington to his home state, saying it would be an effective way to cut out the lobbyists and special interests that have turned Capitol Hill into an ATM dispensing taxpayers money.
Thats it, the way to cure the incredible ineffectiveness and dysfunction of both parties in Washington we move the Capitol to Nebraska, Ben Sasse, a university president and former Bush administration official, said in 30-second campaign ad that ran in Nebraska over the weekend during the NFL playoff games.
Mr. Sasse said he doesnt actually believe there are the votes in Congress to move the capital, but said proposing the move is a thought experiment designed to pose the question of what the founders would think if they saw the influence-peddling and extent of federal intervention in Americans lives.
I think that they, Nebraska work-a-day folks, think that were on the precipice of national decline and they dont think Washington gets it at all, Mr. Sasse said in a telephone interview.

And, your point is....
Make it mobile, under huge tents that move around the country every 5 years, the next location picked by lottery and drawn the day tear-down begins.
“Make it mobile, under huge tents that move around the country every 5 years”
I suggest the first location be under the jurisdiction of Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona. He can even provide them all with pink underwear and pink jumpsuits so they all will feel ‘equal’.
And when the leftists control both houses of congress Sheriff Joe’s Congressional Tent City continues for as many years as it takes get rid of the leftists (Dems & Rinos)
“Nebraska would not be my choice, but is worth considering. I always thought maybe St. Louis would be good as it is geographically in about the center of the country.”
The approximate equidistant location between San Francisco and New York City is Kearney, Nebraska, located on I-80, about 185 miles west of Omaha. It is 1488 miles from SF to Kearney, and 1425 miles from Kearney to NYC.
We are unlikely to really move the capital city but we can and should de-centralize and privatize the government. The growth of the DC metroplex in the Bush-Obama years is an historic tragedy. The area has incredible inflation due to the huge federal spending.
Having the US financial system centered in lower Manhattan and the federal government centered on the Potomac is very risky, as should have been obvious after 9/11.
As an Iowan, I have to say that this would greatly degrade the neighborhood.
