New York (CNN) -- Liz Cheney, whose upstart bid to unseat Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi sparked a round of warfare in the Republican Party and even within her own family, is dropping out of the Senate primary, sources told CNN late Sunday.
Cheney, the eldest daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, began telling associates of her decision over the weekend and could make an official announcement about the race as early as Monday.

Anyone think it was a ruse to keep another tea party type out?
End of Cheney Circus ping!
First casualty of the 2014 was a carpetbagger.
Maybe she can go home and run for something in Virginia.
Sad, she could have done great things in Washington. Lets hope her place is taken by another Tea Party Member!
I don't think so.
I don't know what the Cheney's were up to here but I am glad it's over.
My take was that she was to be the social liberal, but tough talking counter force against conservative tea party women like Palin.
I hope some TEA party member does finally decide to run. Liz Cheney is not TEA Party. Liberaltarian maybe with an emphasis on the liberal but certainly not TEA Party.
If liz ran as a Democrat, it might be a very good way to insure a Tea Party victory.
Go Liz
I don’t know what the Cheney’s were up to here but I am glad it’s over.
AMEN!
I don’t think it was a ruse, but the Tea Party is not that strong in WY. It did elect an education superintendent who seemed to come unraveled.
GOPe is popping the champagne corks!
Dog Catcher?
GOPe is popping the champagne corks!
I don’t think so. Cheney *is* GOPe.
I second that.
And, sorry to say, so is her Dad.
Liz really blew it big time!
She was once the darling of many conservatives, but not anymore.
Sad.
Good. Her efforts would have been applauded if she had run against a Democrat incumbent...taking on Enzi wasn’t smart.
Why not run in Virginia?
No, more likely this opens up the way for a TP conservative to run.
Another TP conservative, but not so well known.
