Tel-Aviv Yafo's mayor, Ron Hulda'i, reacted Sunday to the demonstration by tens of thousands of infiltrators from Africa, who assembled at Rabin Square and demanded that the government allow them to stay in Israel and work legally.
"The demonstration today is only the beginning of a process that unfortunately will only escalate, he predicted, and I regret to say that we will see violence in the streets.
Hulda'i accused the government of ignoring the difficulties that the infiltrators face, as well as the difficulties faced by residents who suffer from the immigrants. He demanded that a clear government policy be determined vis-a-vis the infiltrators who have flooded Israel, and Tel Aviv particularly.
To this end, he added, funds and resources must be set aside for dealing with the problems of immigration policy, education, welfare, personal security and employment.

Well, I think it is either surrender, or be ready to duke it out on the streets. I do not think there is any way around it.
Surrendering is more costly, and not just in terms of money. I’m for duking it out.
Another red diaper mayor.
Sounds familiar.
Echoes of John Lindsay.
He should wear a diaper over his mouth. Same substance seems to come out of it.
infiltrators?
How did of tens of thousands get into Israel? in the first place
Wow, Israel has been invaded. I wonder who planned and executed that agenda.
Sudan, although they were really just trying to kill or enslave them at the time. Those that got away came to Israel.
How did they get in? Last April, when my wife and I landed in Tel Aviv for our first visit there, the border guard took my passport, I had to wait an hour and a half, before getting my passport back with an apology, and was told that I had been waiting in the wrong room, though we went exactly where we were told to go. Just wondering how a bunch of future African Israelis (s) snuck in?

This is the key question - how did the African refugees enter Israel? Apparently, through the Sinai border. But there must have been considerable organisation on both sides to get them through what is usually an impregnable security zone. Obviously, if it was easy to just stroll across that border, then many Palestinian militants would have done so long since.
This whole topic is linked to organised crime networks, etc. There are people smuggling gangs in the Sinai, of Beduin ethnicity, and there are circles of privileged people in Israel who actually want a flow of refugees, for their cheap labour (the sex trade, also has been part of this. They were bringing girls from Eastern Europe and arranging crossing points at the border. Then, other refugees from Africa find out about this, and pay to go the same route.)
Once dumped at the border, the refugees are alone in a harsh environment, and tend to get picked up by Israeli border control. I have read interviews with some of them, which are rather touching - these are people who have suffered a lot. The reservists in the Israeli army usually treat them humanely, and give them water and rations, but they have no skills or resources to look after refugees. They simply ascertain that they are unarmed, and pass them on to the urban areas of Israel.
The mayor, interviewed here, might be criticised, but he does have a point. The govt of Israel is not providing for this sector - local authorities have to, and they themselves are not well off.
Very interesting info, thank you.
