The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force busted a Brooklyn man for at least seven “knockout” assaults, cops said Friday.
Barry Baldwin, 35, punched out the victims between Nov. 9 and Christmas Eve in Canarsie and Midwood, police said.
All of the victims were white women and most were Jewish, a law-enforcement source said. At least two of the attacks occurred on the Sabbath.

I agree with you, the “N” word serves no purpose in describing the perp. I didn’t need to hear the “N” word to consider who the assailant might turn out to be, the lack of any photo or physical description told me all I needed to know.
I believe the word “nigger” was used as a quote, not as a description of the alleged perp. Or do you think the word “nigger” should always be banned? Isn’t arbitrarily banning a word more offensive than the word itself?
Careful now! You might be tiptoeing around the edges of C-word here.

It will be crickets at NYT and NPR of course. Even in my fantasy world, they would run an “update” to their original stories only to declare that now they are certain that all the other “knockout game” attacks in NYC must have been this guy too, and it’s not a widespread thing.

This is Saturday morning: If you can goad the miscreant into arguing with you about his/her use of the censored word, the Mod will be more than happy to suspend the posting privileges of the poster for a week (maybe forever if you do a good enough job) in addition to getting the offending word removed. A twofer!
We can’t have people posting censored words all willy-nilly, can we?

I gave the poster advice, I didn’t suggest censorship. Many posts with that particular word have been removed, not by me but by the owner appointed moderators. Like it or not, F.R. has rules governing language.
Had the usage of that word, used in context offended me, (It did not), I would personally hit the abuse button and let the mod make a decision, I don’t have the power to “censor” anyone but the mod does.
I have no intention of engaging in a “flame war” with you, I respect your opinions, I don’t neccessarily agree with all of them.
Fair enough. And I saw there have been plenty of comments from others on the subject.
But we are being taken advantage of by the enemy because we choose to self-censor too much. Where’s the line? I dunno. Probably somewhere before somebody calls somebody else “that word” as a means of ad-hominum attack, but after quoting the Hip-Hop people who use “that word” all the time, as a means of illustrating what we’re up against in the culture wars.
I don’t think the original remark by MaxMax was over the line because it was part of a reasonable explanation for the behavior of DoJ, and it’s apparent the Mods don’t either.
(I didn’t want a flame-war either. This is Saturday morning, and the last several times I got burned by the Mods were Saturdays, so I was making a sideways comment about the fact there is a Mod who works Saturdays who is a bit of a jerk who doesn’t like Cyber Liberty.)
