A jury has awarded $125,000 to a St. Louis Park man who alleged in a federal lawsuit that an off-duty Minneapolis police officer challenged him to a fight at a bar, then knocked him out, leaving him with a concussion. Jeremy Axel, an IT salesman, spent the night at Hennepin County Medical Center after his encounter Nov. 4, 2011, with officer Michael Griffin. The jury dismissed two other claims Axel brought against Griffin and another officer in the case. Griffin, a seven-year veteran of the force, was awarded the Medal of Valor last year for being among the first officers on the scene of the Accent Signage shooting. The officer is also the subject of a second, pending lawsuit stemming from a similar incident on May 29, 2010, when he got into an argument with a man while off duty outside a downtown bar, followed the man down the sidewalk before catching up to him and knocking him out.

Sounds like someone has a cocktail issue.
Anything it takes me to get home safe at the end of my BAR shift...
Besides humans, I wonder how many doggy murder ‘notches’ this jackboot has on his record.
Criminals - unkept hair, dents in car
Cops - kept hair, no dents in car
As long as the doggies stay out of clubs and bars, they should be ok.
Ha! But seriously, our doggy friends are not safe anywhere anymore.
The officers involved should be immediately fired and prosecuted for conspiracy to violate a citizen's rights.
I believe the officer is one of Holder’s people.
At any rate, good luck with that.
Combine that with a ‘roid habit and we’ve got ourselves a cop that likes to pick fights at bars.
Doh!!!! Black cop (photos on the net) and presumably white victim....Ruh roh
Second lawsuit
The other lawsuit has been brought by Ibrahim Regai. It alleges that Regai got into an argument with Griffin outside Aqua Nightclub and then walked away. An employee of Envy nightclub, Regai rang the doorbell to the club, which was closed for the night, and then turned around to face Griffin, who had followed him to the Envy entrance.
Regai said in his suit he didnt want to fight, but Griffin swung at him and knocked him out. Griffin then summoned a nearby Minneapolis police officer and had Regai arrested for assault on a police officer.
Can you be arrested for assault on a police officer, if the police was off duty, wearing civilian clothes, and there was no way you would know their occupation was a police officer? I guess you can be arrested for assault.
Griffin has severe control issues and should not be any where near a police badge and gun ever. This ‘Officer’ will remain an unnecessary liability to the Police Dept. and to the City budget. This man operates exactly as a gang member or a very, very insecure drunkard would do. He’ll get his own ‘gift’ in the future, and will deserve it.
This is what I would expect from a Minnesota law officer. Along with the people’s junior high mentality, the LEO’s have a petty hall monitor activity.
My experience with Minnesota law enforcement is big egos with something to prove.
I was nearly arrested for reporting that someone was lying on the side of a bike path near Fort Snelling. I was supposedly the reason he was lying next to the trail, even though the person said no such thing. Fortunately a VA Hospital officer was on the scene as well (first to arrive), and said that the person was a PTSD patient that wandered off.
I have no respect for the collection of Barney Fifes that claim to be peace officers in Minnestoopid. Of course now I am back home in TEXAS!
He’ll keep pulling that crap until he picks the wrong guy, and gets capped. His union keeps him on the city’s payroll; he’s well-protected.
