I’m an old Californian. I remember in the 70s and 80s all of the ‘colonists’ from other states laughing to each other that they’d gone for weeks without meeting someone who was actually born there.

I lost my home to the migratory low-information statist mob.

I think they should call it income diversity...not inequality.

The last ‘Wilhelm’ I know of almost killed one of my grandfathers. Left him with gas burns in his lungs and completely buried him in mud from a shell burst.

Debating these True-Believing Communists isn't what they are interested in, of course. On such an imagined level playing field that would be like shooting fish in a barrel for any Sufficiently studied, actual American Conservative.

This new Mayor's behavior is perhaps our best demonstration. His ideology can't long survive, and I am glad I am unlikely to be anywhere nearby during his tenure. It may be such an extremist's folly might be necessary to penetrate the hard-shelled of your average New York city-dweller's political conscience, as blistered and scarred as it must be.

“Then, to pursue the metaphor, 22 percent screwed the 78 percent.”

The 78% were prevented from voting exactly how...?

“New Mayor Bill De Blasio Tells New York City, ‘We Will Not Wait’ on Inequality”

Yeah, he and his commie buddies want to make everyone equally miserable right now.

...emphasized social and economic justice

The scene in Doctor Zhivago where he comes home to see that others have moved in to share his home comes to my mind.

Make NYC a Mecca for those that vote for a living.

I used to work the elections when I was living in brooklyn. A 25 percent turnout, give or take a few percentage points, for a mayoral election sounds about right. We sometimes got a lower turnout for congressional elections. Our biggest turnout were the presidential elections. Then, only about 50 percent of registered voters bothered to vote.

This should be fun to watch...as long as you don’t live there.

Indeed, I hope this guy implements every ridiculous, stupid, American-leftist fantasy in no time. I would love to see NY City crash due to another idiotic socialist, because it would be a great lesson for the rest of the country.

I guess he wants New York City to be more like Detroit.

Unfortunately for the people that live there if his policies are in fact implemented that’s exactly what is going to happen.

Again,I have no qualms with what you've said and as fellow FReeper/conservative understand perfectly the cynicism you've expressed regarding New York City and the sense to which it has chosen the form of governing it acutely deserves.

What this mayor fails to grasp is that certainly as far as financial/economic status is concerned, aspiring to "equality" is a recipe for disaster, something current-era left-wing socialist/communist fantasizers would have learned by now.

Taxing rich people at the exorbitant rate the Mayor proposes to pay for social services will only serve to destroy, make New York City poorer in every way, as those in the tax bracket the Mayor has targeted will make themselves not liable for these taxes by spending less time in New York City as primary residence.

While my comments still remain merely rhetorical ,saying that while the consequences of New York City's leftist government will ultimately prove tragic to the city and its citizenry, I've come to understand that as far as watching a leftist, socialist regime fail under its own impugned ideology, it is indeed something I agree would be fun to watch.

Isn’t it right and proper that a neurosurgeon makes more than hired help at a fast food place?

Show me a doctor thanks makes the same amount of money as a worker at McDonalds, and I'll fiind another doctor to use.

run away Trump
run away quickly

universal Pre-K takes small kids away from their families at age 2 or 3 and starts making them good collective citizens who celebrate men kissing men on wedding cakes, and learn that saying Merry Christmas is offensive

Ultimately, the US Taxpayer is going to wind up footing the bill for De Blasio’s disaster, when NYC is bailed out yet again by the Feds.

He also thanked David Dinkins for reducing crime

And guess who was David Dinkins' Police Commissioner? Ray Kelly, whom he excoriated during his campaign and whose contributions he never had the grace to acknowledge when installing his new Police Commissioner.

What a classless schmuck.

I hope someone informs them of such a horrible fate before he goes through with it. "Save the carriage horses from the terrible fumes and noise!" sounds good at first glance--until you completely think it through. Which is the greater evil? Traffic noise and fumes, or being horrifically killed?

I've done some web research and from what I understand, retired carriage horses are sent up to Blue Star Equiculture Center in MA for retirement. This center is for retired, homeless, or abused draft horses.

“”RE: Thank God I GTFO of NYC in 76.””

“Are you still in NY State, or did you move out?”

I have been living in the Albany area of upstate NY for the past 30 years for employment reasons. Now I am looking to GTFO of NY entirely.
