I detest the use of drones. It makes the act of waging war too damn easy. The decision to wage war should be the hardest thing a US president ever has to do.
I always wondered about the effect on the people in the military whose duty it was to pick the targets. I thought they would be picked from kids that were numb from playing violent video games. Apparently I was wrong.
I think anyone who takes Guardian advocacy pieces seriously are either leftist or none too bright.
Well get her name and get her off Linebaugh!
“Comment is free”
Finally. Im tired of paying outrageous prices at starbucks for comments.
We have non-moving drones that issue tickets for running red lights and going to fast.
drones are evil, obama ought to be ashamed
Hey lady! (think Jerry Lewis) shaddup! We rigged up Sheridan light tanks for airdrop. They were designed to break things, mostly humans. War’s hell. Get some!
Why are we killing Afghanis? Its certainly not to benefit the American people.
Nothing is ever said about the government bombing business with high taxes and unreasonable laws. How about canceled vacations because government caused high gas prices and other expenses?
All civilian casualties are to be laid directly at the feet of the terrorists! That is the reason the Geneva Convention requires uniforms!!!! They are illegal combatants, spies and saboteurs and should be treated as such. Don’t blame the U.S. or sensor limitations; blame the fact that the enemy is cowardly not wearing uniforms.
On a separate note: I don’t think she was a UAV operator or sensor operator. No real drone type information and all left wing talking points with a little graphic drama thrown in.
She saw guerrillas die — big deal.
She’s not cut out for this.
Compared to ww2 infantry —or infantry at ANY time her job is a cake-walk.
She sleeps with her hubby or bf and shops in Vegas.
Of course drones are weapons. That’s why we don’t want them in the US.
Just like Somali pirates.
And Janjaweed, them too.
Rise of the machines!
I form no conclusions based on this article, but everyone should deplore the collateral damage that is and has always been a part of war. War should only be entered into with the authorization of Congress, and if that happens, this is no more Obama’s fault than it was Bush’s or any other President operating under a declaration of war. If not, it is a war crime.
That said, I’d rather see enemy casualties than US Soldiers. Especially when the enemy includes combatants as young as < 10 years old.
Drones have turned warfare into a deskbound video game. Here we have our troops on the ground saddles with the most restrictive ROE in history, yet the wholesale slaughter of families is dismissed as collateral damage.
War sucks. There's things worse than drones.
What I find interesting is how the American people’s perception of the military and it’s hardware has changed.
Previously, new tech for our military was regarded as a good thing. The only negative comments I used to see about it were people that believed it was a waste of money.
Only in recent years have I seen people worry that these war machines would be turned on American citizens. I don’t blame them for worrying.
