Polioce officer is totally ignorant of the 2nd Amendment
In Missouri, open carry can be modified by local ordinances. So all across the state of Missouri, you can have additional local ordinances that you must also be aware of.
Don’t miss the part where the state HAS TO AGREE to honor the gun laws from that other state. NOT ALL STATES do. You have to know that, state-by-state and it’s a big patchwork for who does and who doesn’t.
God help me for saying this, but the ONE GOOD THING Illinois did was shoot down (no pun intended...) an amendment to IL's conceal/carry law that would've enabled each municipality to set their own requirements.
In doing so they also struck down Chicago's anti-handgun restrictions in the process.
That'll be ONE THING the Illinois State Legislature and this Governor got right in the last 35 years I've lived here.
I'd appreciate it if you would show me the Marshfield, Missouri city statute that restricts or prohibits open carry.
Legal scholar that you arse--I mean are--then please explain to me why the LEOs on the scene didn't arrest these frightening, heavily armed, anti-American teenage terrorists on the spot?
Either there is no law against open carry in Marshfield, or you have a frightened, bullying ignoramus out there letting these dangerous (giggling) desperados run wild in our midst.
I bet those girls scare you too, don't they, Uncle Chirp?
Here’s a “reciprocity map” - if you’re interested ...

They want their cake and eat it too, If they prominently post it, they will offend customs. But I think the law says they have to place it in a place where it may be see by anyone who enters.
TYVM!! I’ve applied for my Conceal/Carry here in IL and since we travel to several different states to visit family that link will be very helpful.
I'm aware, ST, but what that means is: either there IS no local ordinance restricting Oklahoma teenage girls from open carrying; or this cop should have cited and disarmed them on the spot.
Again, every establishment needs to give adequate notice.
The girl will have to abide by the Oklahoma law and respect Missouri law, at the same time, including the patchwork of local ordinances. If it were me (from Oklahoma in Missouri), I would just carry concealed - and that would give me, personally, less to be concerned about and know.
I think a lawyer would put that away pretty fast. That would require that Missouri LEO know Oklahoma law. Ain't gonna happen.

The sizable illegal alien crowd here does it all the time. Nor do they buy insurance (The very reason we were forced into mandatory auto insurance). When stopped they are given a pass because the everyone knows that they aren't going to pay nor show up in court and will soon have a new name.
I conceal carry to be safe, that's it.
But I think that the point these provocateurs, and others like them, are making is that either the law is on their side, and most people don't know it; or that most people, including law enforcement, don't have any idea what the applicable law might be.
I don't like the fuss myself. But I am still glad they are doing it. They are merely reminding us that the Constitution still plays a role in our lives.
When we see people on these boards saying that the girls should be "hauled in" for their impertinence, I would say we need all the reminding we can get.
p.s. hey did you buy your LENR yet? Get one for Christmas maybe? ha....
Ahhh, officer, a passport is a legal form of ID. Geez.
They definitely have to know if there is a reciprocity law regarding that other state ... :-) ...
And Oklahoma takes care of the law by the issuing of the concealed carry permit. So, to the officer in the other state (whatever that state is) ... they would first know whether there is reciprocity with that other state, and then they would see if they actually have a permit with that other state,
And you still HAVE TO ABIDE BY THE LAWS OF THE STATE YOU ARE IN ... no matter if you have a permit from your home state,
For example, Oklahoma only allows people to open carry by permit only. But, if you do have that permit in Oklahoma, you may NOT be allowed to open carry in that other state, even though you have the permit in Oklahoma to do so. You may ONLY be allowed to carry concealed,
SO YES ... you have to abide by the law of your home state ... AND ... the laws of the state you are in, when it comes to these things.
Here’s a reciprocity map for the various states ...

Only if your concealed carrying a pistol off of your property. Open carry on your property and open carry of anywhere long guns are a right. No I.D. required. used to be you could conceal carry without a permit if you were on a trip that passed 2 count lines. But that got changed when a drunken female RAT was in charge,
That is a good web page to bookmark.
No that's your breath backing up on you.
In case you don't realize it, you stupid moron, Marshfield is not St Louis where open carry is not permitted -- but you can carry your wine bottle openly if you wish.
LOL ... really ... a LENR?
I don’t think this falls into that category, but it’s something I read about ...

I thought the Cop did ok but he definately was overwhelmed with how to proceed.
I do feel the girls were just looking for controversy. Marshfield is not a high crime area especially the Wally World. I would think a little more restraint on their part should be used in the future! Depending on the outcome there may be an asterick by there name on the Missouri Police file.
They should be more concerned with obtaining a CCW permit. No need to show your hand. Just because your carrying it doesn’t mean your totally safe. As a patron I would be more concerned with someone taking a weapon from them and creating havoc!
