Everybody is attacking Apple, but if you read the story, the NSA developed a spyware ap for the iPhone, it’s not that Apple gave the NSA a back door. And if you read the article, they’ve developed apps for other phones, and also have developed modified phones to swap out with the targeted person’s original phone.
You want to be secure? Stop using all mobile devices.
I’ve heard quite a few people shrug off when I tell them things like this and say I’ve got nothing to hide. They completely miss the point.
Oh.
That’s all well and good, but I’m pretty sure the latest Droids have non-removable batteries.
Yeah, I’m with the Tea Party - so what? Why ya grabbin my arms...?
WHADDYA MEAN, I HAVE KIDDIE PORN ON MY PHONE....?
Yes. There's that; and there's the fact that EVERYONE has something to hide from a totalitarian government that is inventing new "crimes" on a daily basis.
I bet they cant remove the protective skin that covers the camera lens.
Yeah, I’d wondered as much. A friend of mine has a new one, and his is non-removable. Didn’t know they were all that way. :-/
I wonder how many people have exceeded their data limits Or minutes and have had to pay for extra because of the NSA?
That’s the point. Today you have nothing to hide, tomorrow you might. Of course it goes without saying that the principle of it is wrong too.
Yes, and I would live one of those new security systems that you can set via your phone...but talk about inviting the government and hackers into your HOME....not.
You would be dead wrong.
One of the largest accessory markets is extended capacity batteries. Many of them necessitate a large replacement back cover. I use a 9300 mAh zerolemon battery on my Note 2. It runs for 3 days with heavy usage.
It is the same with all the enforcement agencies now. To them, you and I are just criminals they haven’t arrested yet.
After viewing the videos on how to replace an iPad battery vs an HTC phone, the choice is clear.
Is it just me or does anyone else think the HEADLINE of this article is highly misleading.
The article refers to the capability to install a “software implant” in an iPhone. That, I believe, is different than installing a “software implant” in EVERY iPhone. I’m sure the former is common. It is standard spycraft. But there is no claim nor any proof of the later.
Somehow that difference was lost on both the guy/gal who wrote the headline and essentially everyone responding to this post.
...or the cotton duct-taped to the microphones.
Okay.
It should probably have read: "NSA can obtain complete control of your iPhone"; not that they already do.
If they are they are bored to tears.
“Did you let the dogs out before you left? OK good”
“What time will you be home? OK good”
“What are you going to cook for my dinner? That's a good boy!”
Well I have an Android and I feel no more secure. I’d bet that if they are doing this to Apple then they are doing this to all the others too.
