The spot where Formula One legend Michael Schumacher is believed to have suffered a horrific fall while skiing off-piste has been revealed.
The 44-year-old is still fighting for his life and remains in a coma after the accident, which happened in the French resort of Meribel on Sunday.
Eyewitness say Schumacher hit his head on one of the many rocks in the off-piste area - causing him to briefly lose consciousness. The fall was so hard that Schumacher's helmet cracked.

Looks to me like Schumacher wasn’t far off-piste.

No but there seem to be a lot of rocks in the area where he crossed trails.
He was bleeding from the head and making spastic movements.
Years ago I went heli boarding in Chile.
My friends and I jumped out of the helicopter at 15,000 feet onto a ledge.
We descended fairly fast due to an excellent line.
We all took one fall each, laughing at each other and having a great time.
When reached the lodge I noticed a gigantic dent in a friends helmet .
We recalled her fall and one of her skis hitting the back of her skull.
If she hadn’t been wearing a helmet who knows what damage she would have incurred.
She bought a new helmet and hung her dented helmet on a wall like a trophy.
Skiing and snowboarding are so much fun but, do have dangers.
Wear a helmet and even some trauma gear of the type moot crossers wear and be safe....as much as possible....
Split the helmet Ping
damn
Yeah, you could ask Sonny Bono.
I see no pleasure in skiing that overrides the very real possibility that you're going to get your body severely damaged. But everyone is entitled to their own poison, I guess.
While we wish the best for Schumacher why don’t we see special attention and concern for the average Joe who suffers a serious injury? I guess if one is a celebrity he/she must deserve more care and concern than some little unknown person. Lots of folks suffering who never make the headlines.
I’m guessing He probably had your better than average quality one on.
Then again remember Senna.

The rest of the World is enamored with F1, America not so much.
If this was Richard Petty it would be huge here just like Dale Sr. getting killed.
Just like 1/2 this Country “voted” for the zero...

I’ve been snowboarding since 87, and I’ve done a lot of crazy things, I must of got lucky. I never wore a helmet, as a matter of fact, nobody did in those days.
Nowadays I see it a lot, but I’m too old to change I guess heh.
On another note. I had an army buddy who thought it would be a good idea to get on the roof of a car to get home from a bar. It didn’t take very long for him to come off the roof of the car. It didn’t help that the car was doing about 60km/h when he did. He hit his head, and his brain swelled right up. He was in the hospital for quite some time, nobody thought he’d live. He’s doing fine now. They did have to cut his head open a few times to relieve pressure though. This guy was often not too bright. Nonetheless, there is a chance this racer could fully recover based on personal experiences.
