US Secretary of State John Kerry will offer Israeli and Palestinian negotiators a political trade-off: Israeli recognition of the 1967 lines as a basis for the future Palestinian state, in return for Palestinian recognition of Israel as the state of the Jewish people, Palestinian sources told the Saudi daily Al-Watan on Sunday.
According to the sources, the mutual recognition will constitute the core of a framework agreement to be signed by the end of January, and negotiated in greater detail during the following months.
"The coming weeks will be difficult for the Palestinian and Israeli sides, since they will need to make tough decisions, a source told Al-Watan. On the one hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will need to live with a text speaking of the 1967 borders, and the Palestinians, for their part, will need to live with a text speaking of Israels Jewishness.

The Palestinians will never recognize Isreal so its really a moot point.
As empty as a Palestinian’s promise
So barbarous savages “recognize” something that already exists, and Israel is supposed to commit national suicide to get them to do that? What deranged madman would agree to such a thing?
Land for war.... This is Kerry’s deal. A vainglorious oaf who has dreams of being in the history books for more than losing to Bush in 2004. He is half-Jewish via his grandparents and cannot wait to sell out Israel to the Muslims. He is the lowest of the low and should burn in hell...also for enabling Iran’s nuclear program so they can threaten Israel and Saudi Arabia our two allies.
Nice of Jean-Claude Kerry to trade off pieces of Israel to a bunch of terrorists.
After the Iran debacle, I’d tell this moron and his boss to get stuffed.
Nice, from the 666 Administration. Are they going to rebuild the temple for Barack also?
Wonder if the Jews will be dumb enough or desperate enough to trust Lurch’s judgment. I wouldn’t. He is a gigantic egoist. His interest is in “making his mark” on history, not the well being of the state of Israel, or the Palestinians for that matter. If the American people didn’t trust him with their country, why should the Jews?
How many times has the US come up with this same wonderful new deal since, oh say , 1967? Isn’t it kind of like an annual suggestion/demand? Or did we skip a couple of years?
Israel just voted to put the Jordan Valley under full Israeli sovereignty. I am sure kerry peed his pants.

So in return for the ‘Palis’ telling Israel ‘we recognize you’, Israel gives them all this pre-67 land?
What is to stop some future ‘Pali’ leader from taking back that declaration after the land is given back?
One of the fondest memories I have over the last six years was the public ass-kicking the Clown got from Benjamin Netanyahu...while BOTH were sitting in the White House, in front of the press corps.
Bibi publicly and, at length, ripped the Clown and his team for suggesting that Israel go back to the 1967 borders. The Clown was shifting uncomfortably in his chair, clearly CLUELESS that this kind of response was in the offing...or, perhaps, shocked that his arrogance was getting this kind of dressing down by a leader of a foreign power. The Clown has never been challenged in such a strong public way except by a few brave Republicans (Ted Cruz comes to mind) and the Tea Party.
The media would NEVER challenge the Clown or his boss Valerie. And others who MIGHT timidly address his failures would do so behind closed doors.
Not Bibi. He nailed it.

The 1967 borders as a basis for negotiation has been the basis for negotiations since Oslo began. The borders have been negotiated twice, under two Presidents. In the end they were rejected by the Palestinians over their intolerance of the concept of a Jewish state, and their insistence on sending a few million Arabs into Israel. Kerry probably doesn't know this, he was in Washington all the time these things were going on.

You seem to know what you are talking about ... so:
Can you explain it like I’m ten? What, exactly, is going on here?
I believe this will explain it to you.

I must say that John Kerry and Obama know this as well.
Either they don’t care or they wish Israel destroyed.
