SACRAMENTO Gun registration had always seemed like the line in the sand a proposal that would so offend the nations gun-rights advocates that they would bring out their full political muscle to stop it. Yet a California law mandating government record-keeping for all new long-gun purchases goes into effect on Jan. 1 and few people even seem to know about it.
(snip)
The new law will bolster a program that has generated much controversy. Earlier this month, legislators held hearings on the effectiveness of the Armed Prohibited Persons System, used to confiscate the firearms of California residents who are no longer eligible to own them. The California Department of Justice relies on the current ownership lists to identify gun owners and cross check those with lists of people who have been convicted of crimes or have been involuntarily committed for mental issues.
The state auditor found, in a report released in October, that the department has not sufficiently notified courts and mental-health officials of their reporting requirements. Despite a new $24-million state appropriation, the auditor found that the program has failed to take guns from nearly 21,000 Californians who have forfeited their gun rights.
(snip)
Gun Owners of California reported recently that the system is anywhere from 40 percent to 60 percent incorrect. Others put the percentage lower, but its still high. In many cases, the department doesnt reinstate the gun rights of people who are allowed to once again own them, said the groups executive director, Sam Paredes. A vastly expanded ownership list will lead to more mistakes.

Is that like “Back” over the line in the sand?
No, of course not. We keep redrawing the line in the sand until we get the guts to start wiping out anti-Americans.
BTT
It is not written as an opinion piece.
I find that to be positive.
Registration is only a small part of the left's ultimate goal of taking guns from law-abiding citizens. With this, they have taken a large step in achieving that ultimate goal.
Until the stupid portion of the California electorate that keeps electing radical RATS, the ongoing suppression of citizen’s rights will continue...supported by the corrupt Court system in the state.
They will also have to purchase ammunition in this same state. The ammo is as closely monitored as the weapons.
Besides, the thugs are USUALLY illiterate. They would have to REGISTER their guns...which requires reading and writing. And, since that is BEYOND them, their weapons will not be registered.
Crime stats won't change here. Nothing will change unless the talked-about community starts
1. to have FATHERS as part of the baby-making equations...not f**k bags, but FATHERS--ones who actually KNOW whom they are boinking.
2. to have FATHERS married to the mothers of those babies.
That ain't NEVER gonna happen. We all know that.
KCalifornia isn't the only state with this, er, problem. It's endemic to a majority of that community throughout this great country.
I mean, if I "intend" to reside there (I hear liberals are all about "intent") on a tiny piece of land that I own, I can get a DL and Mailing Address for that location, and then no longer be bound by Cali's laws, including that of firearms registration or tax requirements.
Any good candidates? Someone mentioned South Dakota, I believe, on another thread as a good remailing location, but that is rather a difficult distance to travel from here to obtain things such as remailing services and a state DL and insurance.
Any better suggestions out there?
If you were willing to spend 20k or more, you could get some rural property in Arizona.
Will FELONS be required to register their guns they buy in a back alley as it is a violation of the 5th AMENDMENT to the CONSTITUTION for felons to do so?

“The original Haynes decision continues to block state prosecutions of criminals who fail to register guns as required by various state law gun registration schemes.”
Americans still have too much to lose.
Until they reach the point where they have nothing else left to lose, they will rise up.
God help this country when the powder keg explodes. It will be very ugly, very much along the lines of the first civil war.
Arizona, I like the state but much too hot from what past experience has taught, plus they seem to be clamping down on non-residents from what I read about their Governer.
Nevada is right next door, but I am not certain how helpful they will be in this regard since even when I travel there to purchase firearms they are unwilling to sell to anyone with a California ID. Big Surprise, eh?

I’m afraid you’re right, only this time it will not be so organized.
Kinda spooky if ya think about it. Man, these are Americans were tawkin bout here. Americans are pitting themselves against Americans.
“It will be very ugly, very much along the lines of the first civil war.”
It will be far, far more ugly than that. Our first “civil war” (which is actually misnamed as such) was fought by armed troops of two separate countries (yes, the Comfederacy, having seceded, was no longer part of the United States, and was thus a separate and independent country), under some codes of honor.
A real civil war would like like what is happening now in Syria and in many parts of Africa, and what happened in the Balkans, with several different factions fighting for their own respective interests, often forging very temporary and fragile “alliances” with other factions that they will still fight clandestinely. A true civil war is a nightmare, and is usually accompanied by the most heinous atrocities, most often against innocent non-combatants such as women, children, and the elderly. Terror is an integral part of civil wars.

We are slouching toward slavery. And a majority of us could not care less.
“Man, these are Americans were tawkin bout here. Americans are pitting themselves against Americans.”
These are America haters pitting themselves against Americans. It will come down to just how badly do they want to fight for their respective countries:
The America haters, who want to subject the balance of the population to themselves, or the Americans who want to remove those who want to take away their liberty.
Just how insane do you think it is to expect the man whose liberty you took from him to work for you?
“We are slouching toward slavery. And a majority of us could not care less.”
Long as folks can sit in their EZ chairs on Sundays while watching their ball games and sipping their beers.
Bread and circuses.
